19 Managers in 21 years.

It turns out it looks as if he's got that wrong, but can you judge him on just one player ?
Dack was a free transfer, absolutely nothing to lose, the recruitment team have made plenty of signings gambling on players that might come good, look at the 4 strikers they have brought in for a start.

Because of one player, Dack ?
It's just not the way I think the club should be run.

Got no problem with the manager having a say on his thoughts on potential signings. But I wouldn't be signing players specifically for the manager. Football isn't long term enough.

Our last manager basically walked out, imagine we'd just spent £10m on his players and then Mowbray wants to play entirely different style. Stupid way of working.

As I think allowing short-term employees who have to make short-term decisions to decide our future is beyond daft.

You said yourself how many managers we have had in a short space of time, each one comes with fresh idea's, changing from one to the other in such a short space of time seldom ever works and you're left with a myriad of short term nonsense that'll effectively kill your short to mid-term. We saw this in a massive way recently.

As for Mowbray having further input into recruitment, again we have an excellent example of why that shouldn't happen, Bradley "6th choice cam" Dack.

Expecting a manager or coach to see you right is akin to asking for lightning in a bottle, not to mention the success is fleeting and built on sand. IMO of course.
I agree with all of this. Excellent post, I said exactly the same when people were screaming for Neil to be given full control.

Which brings us to the question of whether or not the clubs transfer policy is the way to go.
Personally i think yes, but it needs to be a bit more flexible, as in the case of bringing in a centre forward with experience (Which Mowbray wants)

Since Peter Reid left the club in October 2002 we have had 19 permanent managers in 21 years.

Do we really want to make that stat a little bit worse at this point in time, has Tony Mowbray done so badly that some fans are totally justified in calling for his head.

I think not, he's done enough to deserve more time.
Why make a stand with the wrong one???

I dont disagree with this. Could definitely do with being a bit more flexible for me in certain instances.

Hmm. Maybe it's a thing of the past now pretty much, but there was a time a new manager would come in and get the best out of the previous managers signings, even if he played a differing style of football.

Im sure we could go on for hours but without the details of whats available at what cost, it's a difficult debate to have.

I'd argue we have probably messed around too much in favour of seeking to provide what Tony wants in Dack and Burstow.

I think the balance of the squad is wrong, why, I'm not sure, it would be interesting to know who assumed we could have 90% possession every game and not worry about the defensive aspect and tailored our attributes to that, whether it was a data model, Speakman or Tony. To have a shed load of cams and only 2 cm's and no cdms is odd, not to mention loaning in a 4th striker for one position.

If we did change who would we get.

Good managers have options - a team with no competent striker or any prospect of signing a striker won’t be high on their list!

Mowbray is paid to be a safe pair of hands and he’s achieving that. The time to change is if we run into trouble at the bottom, or when our ambition changes into a club that is aiming for promotion

Are you happy with last night's performance I've defended mogga to the hilt but that was disgusting

They just use it as am excuse these days, "not my players". Football is so short term now they need to get as much time as they can.

I've always been in favour of the point you're making here, i'm just saying i don't think Mowbray has been that poor that he deserves to be out at this moment, we've had some awful appointments these las 20 years, for me Mowbray isn't up there with them. Let him have the rest of the season and see where we are at.

Like the striker scenario if you sign a good manager with real pedigree there’s more chance he’ll stay a while and progress the club.

In the 21 years you mention there’s been some hideous managerial choices.

Most disappointing of the season by far, we will have to see what the reaction is on the pitch at the weekend.
But don't forget Hank, a lot of fans were calling for Adil and Mayenda to be given a start, is it coincidence it coincided with our worst performance of the season ?
