19 Managers in 21 years.

Since Peter Reid left the club in October 2002 we have had 19 permanent managers in 21 years.

Do we really want to make that stat a little bit worse at this point in time, has Tony Mowbray done so badly that some fans are totally justified in calling for his head.

I think not, he's done enough to deserve more time.

If he was buying/recruiting the players then I would have serious doubts after last night, however he has very little say on who is brought in and allowed to leave tbf.

It doesn’t really matter who the manager is, they all get sacked within a season.

Precisely. There is an argument to be had about him being a bit more forceful with the club about having much more of a say in player recruitment of course.

Given he wanted Bradley Dack to come, I don’t think he’s got much of an argument.

The reality is, it’s far healthier for the club to have the recruitment model they have than allow managers to have too much say.

Has he got a particularly good track record in recruiting players, and even if so is it really a good idea to give a coach more of a manager style say in signing players so that when he inevitably leaves or is sacked we have "his" players on the books for the next coach?

Recruitment control (and yes salary of course) was part of AN's reasoning for leaving, and he doesn't appear to be doing well with it at Stoke as a recent example.

As I think allowing short-term employees who have to make short-term decisions to decide our future is beyond daft.

You said yourself how many managers we have had in a short space of time, each one comes with fresh idea's, changing from one to the other in such a short space of time seldom ever works and you're left with a myriad of short term nonsense that'll effectively kill your short to mid-term. We saw this in a massive way recently.

As for Mowbray having further input into recruitment, again we have an excellent example of why that shouldn't happen, Bradley "6th choice cam" Dack.

Expecting a manager or coach to see you right is akin to asking for lightning in a bottle, not to mention the success is fleeting and built on sand. IMO of course.
