18th October Stats

OK, thanks Frijj. Any theories on why schools aren't sending cases through the roof in other countries?. Are more of their kids jabbed perhaps?
Masks, ventilation and smaller class sizes across Europe? We have the biggest class sizes in Europe. Compared to Spain we have an average of 4 more pupils in a class.
Number of tests amongst children? I've no idea what other countries are doing in respect of testing children.
We were also slow to start vaccinating children compared to many other countries.

When Covid buggers off and all the old colds and flu return, some on here will be calling for a Worldometer to display every case and death...addicted is the word.

Ironically, next April the Government are putting up a webpage displaying the daily deaths from obesity, which is far more dangerous than Covid long term...the projections are horrific.

How many times are you going to repeat this flu crack mate?

You can't pass obesity on to the person next to you though.

True but it exacerbates the severity of illness resulting from conditions that can be spread. It's definitely deserving as a part of the conversation.

We are in trouble here ……….
Need to stop panicking mate. Your panicking other people as well.
Even Locke and Frijj are able to see the figures pragmatically.
Hospital numbers have gone up less than a hundred over the last eight days where cases have gone up 10 thousand.

I'm not sure what staff testing is like in schools at the moment, but I'd be surprised if it's anything like last academic year. We were told we had to test twice weekly last year but now we only need to test if we feel the need.

Somebody mentioned on one of the threads that the Government have a 250 deaths a day threshold for lock downs. I'm hoping that poster pulled that figure out if his arse because If that is correct then we are in trouble, trouble meaning lock downs and restrictions chaos.

Our trust are struggling. We’d ran out of PCR slots for staff by 2pm today. Waiting lists for patients are generally getting longer, not shorter.

The average class size in Spain is around 25 and up to 30 students per class. What is it in the UK?

Other countries aren't testing as much as the UK simply because there aren't as many people with symptoms or getting ill enough to go for treatment.

Under two thousand cases in Spain and Italy compared to 49,000 in the UK suggests that the UK is not on the right track.

The majority of folk in UK aren't getting tested because of symptoms, they get tested after someone at school, college, work, family member etc gets a positive result.
