Absolutely this. They’ve kicked the can so far down the road there is no way the season can be finished. Big question now is, does it get voided or do they come up with some shit way of deciding who goes up and down
No way is it going to be voided. They've already agreed there will be relegation from the championship and promotion form league 2.

Should be no promotions and league void.
Set this seasons positions by PPG.
Start of next season give the
top two now +6 points;
3rd and 4th +4 points;
5th and 6th +2 points head start for next season.
Bottom 2 -6 points
Bottom 3rd and 4th -4 points
Bottom 5th and 6th -2 points

As has been said a good few times on here and is one of the proposed solutions.....

If clubs don't want to play then that's fine. They forfeit the game 3-0. Teams who want to play on do so as normal so our game v Peterborough for instance would go ahead.

The Rotherham chairman would very quickly change his mind if that was the ruling.

Spot on mate. It's play all the games, void the season or allow clubs who want to fulfil the fixtures do so and the rest forfeit the fixtures 3-0 like you say. It's barbaric how the season started with the Bury situation/allowing Bolton to play on and it ending like this.

The question shouldn’t be do they wish to end the season early. It should be can these games be completed safely?

Seeing as other leagues are going ahead and the Bundesliga has been a success, then we all know it can done. So get it done. Even if its at training grounds.
This

Germany has shown the games can be played so they league should just take control and say they will be played. If clubs don’t want to take part then they forfeit the game. Someone needs to grow a spine and quickly.

Not surprised in the slightest and need to make the decision and plan for when we can kick off again.
All Lower League clubs are relying on the furlough and most loan contracts expired at the end of May. With the wage caps proposal virtually done and dusted the EFL will be in a position to confirm a rescue package and Clubs will be able to plan for their respective leagues.
Winners and Losers and move on.
Void no way, the Clubs will take a vote and a majority decision upheld.

The facts are:

- the clubs in this shitty league can’t afford to play games behind closed doors

- they also can’t afford to continue without football

Ultimately that means either:

- They delay the start of the 20/21 season to October in the hope they can get fans into the ground (even in a limited capacity).

or

- A handout is given by the PL to the EFL to allow football to continue.

We are in for one hell of a bumpy ride over the next few months and I personally wouldn’t be surprised if a large number of smaller clubs, particularity if they do receive a handout which could help cover operating costs, will push for the 20/22 season to be cancelled. If that happens, we are fucked.

German 3rd division started again last weekend

Don't know why they have to bother with play offs. Just top 3 go up, simple.

This. If it finishes you cant then say, we'll have another 5 games

That's fair enough, providing they don't include a play-offs caveat

End of thread

If the Championship goes ahead then both L1 & L2 should have.

Clubs shouldn’t be allowed to vote for their own self interest here, the EFL should have taken it by the balls and made the call.

Let’s ask the mags for financial help off the Middle East marras...

No mate the EFL stinks. They have lacked leadership. They have let the clubs dictate to them what is needed. Should have been the other way round.....!

The whole season should be null and void....! Not saying that because im a Sunderland fan but because that is the reality of the situation....!

N&V was never an option as it opens up a can of worms for refunds.
For example all season tickets for this year would have to be valid for next year as every game is a replay of a cancellation. The T&C's state you gain entry to the rescheduled game. So zero ST money.

Money shouldn't be the issue here, the only issue should be, can we complete the league safely?

The answer to that has to be 'Yes' at some point, or are we going to cancel football for ever?

The issue with money should be dealt with separately and with the money in football there should be assistance from higher leagues/clubs in higher leagues.

Even though supporters can't go to games, surely supporters would still pay for streams of matches with money going to the home team?

The real issue is, there are clubs who want to take advantage of the situation, rather than looking at the best way to complete the season.

The EFL seem happy to end the season on PPG, why else would they announce that's how the league would be decided if it's not completed on the field?

They know which way that vote will go, they're just letting the clubs 'decide' to end it.

Just wish something would be decided. I couldnt give a fuck anymore of its played out or not, the seasons changed either way. Bigger things to worry about that whether we have a chance of being promoted. Most of the same people complaining about these other clubs, would be defending ours if roles were reversed. And yes there will be clubs that rely massively on attendances because theres no money this far down the leagues. Its basic football running which we arent used to with the tv money we have had through the years. Its why they crave big cup ties ect

Absolute disgrace that the pyramid structure of professional clubs has been abandoned. Sod the PL and Championship, I’m not watching any of their games when they come back.

As for us in L1, presumably we’ll let Darragh McAnthony speak for us again. Fan-bloody-tastic

I hope our fans remember this and those clubs who use this to feather their own nests are boycotted. Let's see how they deal without a guaranteed full away end when we play then, if money is so tight. Fuck them.
Also, charge their fans the maximum we possibly can when they play at our place, as most do with us.

They’ve all managed for 100+ years without likes of us.

Is the league not better to declare results for this season and then we can start new season in October without compromise

Cant blame these clubs, they simply cant afford to do it, bit daft saying those voting end shouldn't be allowed in the playoffs either, will cost them a lot less money to play 3 games compared to the rest of the season. The season cant be voided for obvious reasons so if cant play the season out then ppg is the only practical solution.
Bollocks. If they can't play 6 more games in League 1 what are they going to do in 3 months when they are in the Championship but still have no gate money. If they can't/won't play fixtures then forfeit game 0-3. Those who want to finish season can.
