A different issue:it says england in the op. or is it a different issue?
It doesn't feel 5 minutes ago since this time last year when you could see what was starting to unfurl ahead of the Autumn. It feels completely different now and I'm pretty optimistic about the next few months.
Because of a collection issue, healthcare figures for Sunday 12 September do not include updated data from 6 acute hospitals in England. Figures on this date are therefore lower than expected. Missing data will be added in the next release.
Figures reported on a Monday by Wales are for a 48h period. This is reflected in the UK total.
Hospital data for ST&S is updated weekly on a Thursday.

The only reliable indicator of how it is going is number of people admitted into hospital. Now entrenched at above 1,000. 'Getting worse, not better.

If cases are going down guess what's going to happen to hospital numbers?

And yet, every time cases have dropped hospitalisations have followed shortly after and then deaths shortly after that.'Cases' has never been seen as a reliable indicator of how it is going. 'Subject to reporting lags, processing lags, volume of testing and so on. Hospital admissions are admissions on that particular day. This has been widely understood since more or less the beginning of the pandemic.

it will be, I agree. It’s not as though the trend has occurred in pretty much every country in the world during the pandemic.Probably just a coincidence.
Interesting data coming out of the US showing that almost half of hospital admissions are asymptotic, mild or incidental too.it will be, I agree. It’s not as though the trend has occurred in pretty much every country in the world during the pandemic.
Why would you be admitted to hospital with no symptoms? Sounds like shite to me.Interesting data coming out of the US showing that almost half of hospital admissions are asymptotic, mild or incidental too.
Wonder if it’s similar here?
I assume that everyone admitted is tested. So someone comes in with an in growing toe nail and tests positive they are included in the stats. Otherwise they wouldn’t be in hospital. The number seems suspect, I agree.@lurker 3,300 cases in Scotland today which is good considering the ones from yesterday were supposed to be getting added on to today's.
