No year after when Entwistle scored hat trick with orange ball on SHOOTI was at Roker for this game.
Is this the game, where the pitch was covered in snow ?
I first went to Roker in 1972, but started going with my mates in 1975, so I'll have been at this game, but cannot remember owt of itI was at this game, I remember I didn't want to go but dad persuaded me by saying bound to see some goals as Spurs had put 9 past them a few weeks earlier.
The only other game I remember that season is Spurs at home with their supporters getting chased into the pitch, got knocked over on the stairs going the toilet at half time with the big lads charging up the stairs, was a scary experience as a 9 year old but didn’t tell my folks in case I wasn’t allowed back againI would have been there, we scored 5 past them two seasons running. That particular season (77-78) was a bit of a non-event as we never seriously challenged for promotion.

If I remember rightly, Spurs and Southampton played each other in the last game and both teams needed draw to prevent Brighton going up.Spurs only went up on goal difference on the very last day of the season.
They had a goal difference that was nine better than Brighton, courtesy of that 9-0 hammering of Bristol Rovers.

Colin Lee 4 iirc, just signed him from Torquay United???Spurs only went up on goal difference on the very last day of the season.

John Motson said the 250 Spurs fans came on the pitch due to exuberance at going 2-1 up when in fact they were chased on by the daft lads one of whom was swinging a, sweeping broomI was in the Roker, that day.

Me too can remember well I was 9 year old and sitting on one of the crush barriers being held by my Dad when the shout from behind went up of get the kid off the barrier as some of the crowd charged through. No danger of anything like that on Saturday.I was in the Roker, that day.
Yep Colin Lee got 4.Colin Lee 4 iirc, just signed him from Torquay United???

Aaah the memories, great days to be a young'un just starting to go to the games with his mates. Horses charging around under the Roker, pie trays getting hurled about and of course the legendary broom.Colin Lee 4 iirc, just signed him from Torquay United???

Wasn't the Rovers keeper called Martin Thomas and making his debut. Definitely one for his scrap book.Yep Colin Lee got 4.
Was sure they got chased on the pitch at half time but a long time ago.
Am sure there was bother only the return game down there, we won 3-2 in one of last few games of season so probably thought we had stopped them going up and no doubt revenge sought as well.
Never been a particularly safe place to visit even in the sanitised days of Sky and Premier League
Southampton needed to win though to prevent Bolton winning the title.
We drew 0-0 with Fulham and just pipped them as they could only draw 0-0 with Spurs.
table: Brighton and Hove Albion league performance history: League Division Two table after close of play on 28 April 1978I would have been there, we scored 5 past them two seasons running. That particular season (77-78) was a bit of a non-event as we never seriously challenged for promotion.
What a walk that is from Seven Sisters to WHL. Must have been horrendous in the 70s. Only ever did it early noughties when Mboma scored. Had no bother then but heard bad reports about WHL from others.Yep Colin Lee got 4.
