11th July corona deaths uk

You know better than a doctor obviously
To be fair I think it probably has happened which is why I said if it is recorded incorrectly it’s wrong.
My best mates mother in law died, she had her dinner and was fine. They got a call at 3.00pm to say she was poorly and her son needed to go in. He was there within 20 minutes and by the time he got there she’d died.
No symptoms no test but recorded as Covid which meant nobody could see her at the funeral directors.
But that doesn’t mean many 1000’s in care homes didn’t die of Covid and I just think it’s insensitive to dismiss all of them as having “fuck all to do with Covid” because a lot have very much had a lot to do with Covid

100% correct.

If it was recorded as Covid it'll be because a doctor assessed that as the cause.

without positive test it’s a best guess from a GP - general practitioner , not a specialist . I’d hazard a guess the poor lady didn’t get tested .

Absolutely, a "best guess" based on their clinical judgement and the case history of the patient. Still a lot different to claiming the patient had not died of Covid, its not ideal circumstances so we have to trust the medics.

Agree in the majority but they can be wrong (personal experience ). I think if a death is recorded as covid then A positive test should be aligned to it . Be interesting to know if all assigned deaths have a positive test .

I’m not sure how a doctor could asses it as Covid when she had no symptoms and no test. I’m the last one to defend lots of things but I do think there have been instances when this has happened.
However, that’s not say many many many haven’t died of Covid in care homes too

I'm sure the doctor would have had his reasons, if it was not the doctor and cases are unclear sometimes it goes to the coroner.

She didn’t have Covid ffs that’s my point

She didn’t die of Covid so why the fuck would I want it reported as such. She was 95 and had been in ill health for years. She died of old age

Doctors are generally not allowed to put 'old age' as a cause of death on a certificate even if it seems common sense to relatives. There are strict rules that they must be adhered to otherwise the medic would be in bother from the coroner. Even if someone was nearing the end of their life prior to contracting covid this must be mentioned if they have either a positive test or any clinical signs or symptoms.
Completing a medical certificate of cause of death (MCCD)

4.3 Avoid ‘old age’ alone
Old age, ‘senility’ or ‘frailty of old age’ should only be given as the sole cause of
death in very limited circumstances. These are that:
• You have personally cared for the deceased over a long period (years, or many
months)

• You have observed a gradual decline in your patient's general health and
functioning

You are not aware of any identifiable disease or injury that contributed to the death

• You are certain that there is no reason that the death should be reported to the
coroner
