11.11.1972.....Safc slump to 17th as Carlisle edge

..... a 7 goal thriller at Brunton Park infront of under 9000 fans.

Porterfield 2 and Latham netted.

Playing for Carlisle was a guy called Chris Balderstone who was not only a fine midfielder, but also an excellent cricketer. Iirc he was capped by England.

Sunluns inconsistent form must have affected the away following as normally thousands would trek across the A69, but not seemingly this time.

Anyone there @vinegar hill

Not at that one mate.
The only time I was at Brunton was for the FA Cup game the season after, there was a helluva turnout for that one.
We drew 0-0 and managed to lose the replay 1 nowt at Roker Park.
Typical Sunlun eh!

Also was at BP in the season Carlisle went up. Lost 1 nil. We had whole of side end, Warwick Terrace iirc. Easily 8000 there that night as the sheepshaggers ended our promotion hopes whilst boosting their own.
