10k in your bank today or….

Unable to answer the question unless I know how many people are in the draw.
Depends what the odds of winning the £1m is.

You should take the £10k on any odds over 99/1

To some extent yes. But the odds where going into the £1m draw is no longer worth the risk will vary from person to person depending on their circumstances.

As others have said, it all depends on the odds. For me anyway. £10k won't make much difference to my life. £1m would change everything.

For people saying need to know the odds you don’t get told.
They say it over the radio as I've heard it last year, or year before and wondered if I'd do it myself. I see there were 39 people entered last year. The bloke who won turned down just £2,000 an at the time the amount of people would have been less. He doesn't even click on straight away he's won it in the video

They also tell you how many people there are on the website and there's 4 at the moment. I'd presume more people join at the beginning as they will think their odds are better. However, once they get a few more people in the draw then I'd presume the cash offered would really go up to tempt people into the draw.

:edit: The draw isn't equal either with a 1 in 39 chance as the bloke who won got to pick the winning box. He was the 15th to pick from the original 39 boxes so surely that means he had a 1 in 24 chance of picking the winning box given 14 had already been picked? That means the odds of winning start at 39-1 but could end up 50/50 if you're the last person to pick from the 2 boxes

So the question could be, there's already 38 people in the draw and you're the very last person Heart call, how much you take to not go into the draw?

See my edit as even with 4 it's not a simple 1 in 4 chance of winning. You'd have 4 people who get to pick 1 of 4 boxes in order

1. 1 in 4 chance of picking winning box
2. 1 in 3 chance (on top of 3 in 4 chance of 1st pick in their favour)
3. 1 in 2 chance (on top of3 in 4 chance of 1st pick in their favour, 2 in 3 chance 2nd pick in the favour)
4. Wouldn't get to pick as they'd win (on top of3 in 4 chance of 1st pick in their favour, 2 in 3 chance 2nd pick in the favour and 1 in 2 chance 3rd pick in their favour)

I've added stuff in brackets as I'm wondering does the fact that the 2nd person has to hope the 1st person doesn't pick the winning box and so on equal out the chance for all four people to 1 in 4 again? it doe I think

Don't just say yes or no, you need to show how you worked it out ;)

How will you decide who wins the one million pound prize?

Winners in each round can either choose to walk away with the cash amount available that day, or instead choose a place in the Million Pound Final which is a two stage process. In stage one, the number of finalists will be randomly whittled down to 9 people, who will all make it through to stage two. On the final day of the game, an additional person will win the 10th place in stage two of the Million Pound Final. The 10 entrants will then each have a one in ten chance of becoming the nation’s newest millionaire. The million pound winner will be determined through a random process overseen and verified by an independent adjudicator.

From the Heart FM website as i am that bored at work

The final day person doesn’t get the chance of winning anything other than the million?

Reads to me like they win the million or nothing

Missed this, so there's a draw before the main draw of 10 people so people get bumped before the winner is announced. Last year, 39 people entered with 39 boxes and they took a turn to pick the winning box and the 15th picker was the winner.

The final day person doesn’t get the chance of winning anything other than the million?
Aye but they're getting a fast track into the final 10 of Stage 2 which means a 1 in 10 chance compared to last year which would have been 1 in 39 for the last person.

Have a look at what you could’ve won.
Bit unfair on anyone that chose to be in with the chance of the million.

Like Brits getting a wild card into Wimbledon.

Be put into a draw for 1 million pounds.

Debate going down at graft here, Heart have a competition on and if you get through on their premium rates you can take 10k today or be put into the mega draw. The kicker being they ring people about 5 times a day (maybe more) until the end of April, so god knows how many are in the draw at the end. Personally, I’m taking the 10k.
10k for me and I would have I spent in under 30 minutes
