We currently have 3 players capable of getting 1000 championship runs this season. Scotty needs 19 more, Rocky 76 & Richardson 113. Colly has very slim chance needing 243.

Not bad for a team battling relegation all season.

It may have appeared we are battling relegation but if you swap the Northants and Lancashire games for wins we would be third in the table. The only difference between us and the top 2 sides being they have more depth to cope with the rigours of county cricket. Our first XI is as good as any knocking round still.

We've been in the bottom 4 all season. If that's not battling relegation I don't know what is. Just remembered you're the resident WUM on here.

I didn't say we haven't been in the relegation mire just don't think we have had the luck in a few games and looks like by stringing a few wins together now we will end up 4th potentially which is about right

That's only cos we didn't have the bowlers available who could finish games off, thereby ending up with a lot of draws. We wouldn't have been able to get the draws if not for our batting side.

How many more does Borthwick need for his 10,000? [not this season, obviously]
 
i have always liked scottys style of batting. lovely drives through the covers, straight drives (my favourite shot),

Ahead of who? His bowling is the thing that has to improve for him to get in the side.

As he's bowled less than 150 overs this season there's no danger of that happening.

not sure but purely as a batsman alone he is good enough I believe seems to go unoticed
 
Great effort, we've had another excellent season considering our injuries, still think we are a batter short, although I wonder if we may give McLeod a full year next season, as he's definitely got something and will be cheap
 
Its bizarre man. Theres only 3 players got more runs in the championship than Borthwick and until a week or go it seemed as if he was having a moderate season.

ahead of who? ballance/bell/root/ali/buttler/stokes

where would you put him there? unless his bowling is better than ali or stokes he wouldn't get in, and not even with stokes really unless it is a two spinners pitch he is basically battling ali as an allrounder or ballance/bell/root as a pure batsman.

he might get a shot going to sri lanka as there will be times to play ali and borthwick in the same side there

i'd have thought quite alot, 2,000 over the last two years, he was hardly prolific before then, i'd guess he is on around 4,000...

cricinfo says 3,800 odd FC around 5k across all formats

But then Rashid has plenty of runs as well as wickets so he could easily be in the pecking order ahead of borthwick.

Borthwick 1117 runs 3 tons 4 50s average 46.54(batting at 3)
with ball 13 wickets at 54.53 bbm 3/70 econ 4.06

Rashid 566 runs 2 tons 1 50 average 43.53(batting at 6/7)
with ball 40 wickets at 25.75 one fifer bbm 8/194 econ 3.64

just to add to this, nobody has 10,000 runs for durham, colly has a chance if he can get around 1,000 next year.
