Since that historic Ashes win

has there been a better test series in your life time?

definitely the best in terms of generating interest in the game.

This. The series was played almost entirely in 6 wk hols.

I watched almost every day like millions of others.

Nowt has come close to it since
A bunch of us dodged out of work early to watch the last couple of hours of the Oval test match on the big screen in the Triangle in Manchester city centre. Don't think my boss was impressed but I was with her boss so she couldn't say anything

So do I. It was great, but the constant references to it aren't half tedious now.
That series set the bar in terms of entertainment and the standard required of an England team in my time watching cricket. It's my generation's '66, we'll always be harking back to it and comparing teams to that team.

Definitely that, closely followed by the 1981 Ashes.

My daughter was born in the middle of the final test, should have called her Flintoff.

Quite simply the best series ever. The build up to it lasted from when we won in the WIndies in the winter of 2004, it would finally show us whether we would ever watch a truly great England side, one that could beat the best test side there has ever been. It felt like that summer the only purpose of working was to get my hands on as many tickets as possible to anything surrounding that series, ODIs, spare test tickets etc, it was the good old days when ODI cricket knew its place as a sideshow used to build up to the main event and by the time they had finished, the whole country had been warmed up and was ready for the real thing.

It must have been one of the most unproductive summers this country has had, many a day was spent following the tests one way or another.

Series that got me into cricket was 16 at the time so had been off for study leave for ages was getting sick of bloody Jezza Kyle so i ended up watching Channel 4 , been hooked ever since

Fairly similar here.

I've got a small scar on my head from braying my head jumping out of bed celebrating one Sunday morning when Jones took a catch off Harmison's bowling at Edgbaston
