Isn't it great how we are supposed to be obsessed with them yet some mag goon has managed to crowbar us into a South Shields thread. I suppose he tried to be funny at least..... failed miserably but tried

Not
You, or you wouldn't add to this thread

Just been looking at the pyramid of the leagues, why didn't Shildon get promoted last season even tho they won the league?
Not all clubs show the intention to make the step up to the next level increased travel and stadium requirements means an increase in costs, its common for northern league 1 clubs not to take the promotion, although I'm surprised shildon aren't ready for it, bishop south shields and possible north shields seem to be the clubs wanting to step up, bishop wont finish high enough in the league I rekon south shields will dont know enough about north I never seem to catch them around the grounds near me,

wtf are you on about . I'm talking about mad cyril in his attempt to turn it against SAFC fans. Tool alright but a bit sharper than you obviously

I'm just merely stating that there are massive similarities between the rise of South Shields and the early 90's rise of NUFC.

Local lad done good invests money.
Brings in new manager.
Makes exciting signings
win quick promotion.
Feel good factor in town.
Draws big crowds who are lapping it up.

This is unarguable really. The above is total fact. Nothing against turning it against SAFC fans. It's great that they can also witness a meteoric rise to fame also. Long may it continue I say.

Just for some balance I will throw a figure out there for discussion.

1457

That was the crowd they got when they played a season at Peterlee in 2013/2014. Seems a decent figure until you realise it was the cummulative attendance for all of their 21 home league games for the entire season. Average therefore worked out 69.3 and given that most NL sides take a handful away to each game, I would be surprised if as many as 40 South Shields fans attended on a regular basis. On the night I went v Esh Winning the crowd was 62 and they had a low of 43 and a high of 138.

The crowd of 1,164 is indeed very inpressive and as with all local non league sides I wish them well. We don't have enough sides in the upper levels and I hope they can join Gateshead in the National league in 4 years time.

Of course it was a dig at Sunderland fans

What you'll perhaps have to bear in mind, is that a lot of Sunderland fans have already witnessed first hand, a club that's local to them grow to such a huge level that it went on to surpass them entirely. They lived through the grief, the mocking and the constant put downs that have unfortunately led to a guaranteed lifetime of inferiority

I'll tell you what though, if inferiority means winning 6 in a row, relegating you and being a division higher, I will take that any day of the week
Of course though this has nothing to do with South Shields

Whats funny?

Ah i see, once again you are comparing South Shields to the City of Sunderland. Why don't you compare your city to the city of Newcastle upon Tyne? .... Oh i see.

Anyone who doesnt think thats a massive crowd for that level is thick
