“Major New Development”

New bridge having a tremendous effect already then, on one side Liberty Browns getting a few palm trees and on the other Pallion's getting a gin bar. Yay.
Former Sunderland working men’s club to reopen as gin bar and entertainments suite

The moaners cannot see that the Northern Spire has opened up a whole new world of investment for this part of the city, which will inherently change its fortunes. People are deriding Pallion/Hylton as choices for investment, but how else are we to see them change and progress? Do we want the former to remain a grim post-industrial housing estate forever?

Just like the Millenium Bridge heralded the transformation of Newcastle Quayside, will the Northern Spire oversee a transformation of that area into a hub of life, business and entertainment.

THIS!!!

Could create a canny out of town eating and drinking and leisure area tbf

"An original bid to host boxing at the venue has also been scrapped alongside conditions limiting the time of deliveries and requirements for regular clean-ups around the venue."

That actually sounds interesting.

But nah, few shitty chain restauarants and gin bars will do instead.
