ie: the penalty for bribery will be... paying a bribe.

Clever system. Instead of the Greek state having to bear the cost of putting a tourist in jail, the tourist pays the Greek government instead. Very Greek, when you consider that Grece has a property tax on swimming pools, which is paid by 1% of Athens householders (Google maps suggest that around 35% of Athens home have outdoor pools).
I’d like to think not, but If was a multi millionaire and pissed...

They said today she was given a date rape drug they said yesterday she'd been stabbed and the story didn't even mention her the day before. So I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

He won't go to jail. He will pay a fine and give the country a wide birth nothing more

Sure I read somewhere the 'stabbing' was more like a poke with a stick

Said on Sky the things he has been found guilty of are classed as misdemeanors in Greek law.

He probably didn't do anything,

Greek police are corrupt I wouldn't believe a word they say.

He/they'll get a huge fine and coppers will be lining their pockets.

Interesting noting the difference in how Brits deal with pigs, mind

The upper class Etonian types fuck them, whilst the working class types punch them

Key paragraph from the Guardian:

"Under Greece’s penal code, Maguire could face a three-year sentence but is likely to be spared as a result of a scheme that allows defendants to convert their sentences into “paid” penalties."

So basically he can just pay instead. Who says the rich don't get the same justice. Sure there's a shit overdone joke in there about Man U penalties also

Did that definitely happen though. Most spikings turn out to be a load of bollocks.
Would you have tried to bribe the cops, or would you have just pleaded guilty?
Bribe them with what? A bottle of cider?
