“Bits”

You know how back in the day the NES was 8 bits, the mega drive was 16 bits, the PlayStation was 32 bits, the N64 was...er 64 bits and so on?

What would the PlayStation 4 be in bits? Talking about the power of games consoles, expressed in bits seems to have gone out the window about the time of the PS2/Xbox.

The PS4 and XB1 have 64-bit CPU's, the memory bus in their GPU's is 256-bit. They also use 64-bit operating systems.
That seems low considering the N64 was like 97 or so. So basically the new consoles just combine different processors in combination to produce better graphics, where’s something like the mega drive just had one 16 bit processor?
