Brilliant post.Absolutely no slight on the man or what he achieved at all. Clearly a top bloke
But what frustrates me is that we shouldn’t need this kind of thing to raise money for the NHS, that’s why we pay tax. It’s just a shame that it’s diverted into Tory donors’ pockets.
My point is it could have been any worthwile cause.Yeh, how dare they donate their own money to a worthwhile cause.
The b*stards.
I’d be interested if you get much take up. We’re not (I’m at a medical research charity now) - we just decided that people will probably want to go with his foundation/NHSCT rather than us.
he never raised money for the NHS. He raised it for the NHS charities (as was reported). IIRC this was to do things for the NHS employees. One such thing was to make a safe room for staff. somewhere they could go and shut out the covid noise.
£38.9 million is a lot of money though and I dont have a clue on what other projects it helped
Can you say a little more about what that is and how it works?
I wasnt impressed with him walking around the house. If he wasnt a ww2 vet no one would care.
If people tried taking personal responsibility for their own health the NHS would do just fine....carry on UK, drinkng, smoking and eating 'cos there's more Tom's out there to make up the £15 billion a year that the tax payer forks out to keep you in your shit, selfish lifestyle. It’s not scoring political points honestly, it’s existed for years and years regardless of party. It grates a bit more now with the proliferation of billions to their mates, but the actual point is that charity shouldn’t be necessary with a welfare state.
Where is the benefit in an old man walking round a garden? He didn’t magic money up that wasn’t already there. If that’s how we fund things, we have a problem as human beings
Well done for missing the point as usualIf people tried taking personal responsibility for their own health the NHS would do just fine....carry on UK, drinkng, smoking and eating 'cos there's more Tom's out there to make up the £15 billion a year that the tax payer forks out to keep you in your shit, selfish lifestyle.
Thank you...try not to worry about itWell done for missing the point as usual
Some interesting points. I'm always surprised by the number of armed forces charities (or so it seems) and, as you say, what they're doing differently, especially when you still read things about the lack of support for members or ex-members of the armed forces.
From looking at your photo, definitely not a wadThat and being a tight wad.
This times a thousand. Millions skimmed off the top by the big players, donate local and small.
totally disagreeTo be fair, that sounds like exactly the sort of thing the NHS should use it’s own funds for.
The money was also used for paying staffs parking charges. Again that should be covered by the NHS rather than a charity.
The ladies would definitely think otherwise. Lockdown has been good to me.From looking at your photo, definitely not a wad
Pathetic mealy mouthed comments about a dead man who raised money for charity. This following on from your comments about Hartlepool people being uneducated morons.Wonder how many paid jobs and state honours (for family) will emerge from the “captain sir lord his majesty tom Moore foundation” over the next decade.
Whilst I don’t mean this to Haway, I have noticed in the past that those who are left wing like to tell you they are and you’re right in that they do seem very bitter and unpleasant. Very strange.Pathetic mealy mouthed comments about a dead man who raised money for charity. This following on from your comments about Hartlepool people being uneducated morons.
What's noticeable on here is those who bang the drum for how left wing they are, are the most unpleasant and bitter people you could ever know. Thread after thread you read their shite while all the time they keep up the pretence of their socialist credentials. Sad doesn't cover it.
With the Right having held sway in this country for over a decade, perhaps there's plenty to be bitter about.Whilst I don’t mean this to Haway, I have noticed in the past that those who are left wing like to tell you they are and you’re right in that they do seem very bitter and unpleasant. Very strange.
Typical thicko response. Takes a mildly sarcastic comment referring to the societal one-upmanship that occurred with every z list celeb clamouring to be his mate as a slight on the dead .Pathetic mealy mouthed comments about a dead man who raised money for charity. So untrue.Whilst I don’t mean this to Haway, I have noticed in the past that those who are left wing like to tell you they are and you’re right in that they do seem very bitter and unpleasant. Very strange.
