It is and if that is what people want then I won't whinge. A very big experiment in social engineering will continue unabated and we will have voted for it. I find it amazing.

With the vote being so close, it won't be the end of the matter. Not by a long way. Party politics could look very different in a few months time.

I'm not economically liberal. My economic views are left of centre. Therefore I am left wing.

There is not a left or right position on the EU. You can be left or right and be pro or anti EU. The same with mass immigration.

Agreed about this, again. Owen Jones was suggesting "Lexit" a few months ago, and certainly there is a strong tradition on the hardish left of being anti-EU. It is arguably one of the few issues that has historically united the left of Labour and the right of the Tories. The SWP, socialist party, RMT union etc. stood on a platform in previous EU elections of 'no2eu, yes2democracy' iirc

Exactly.

I hold left of centre views on a lot of issues but I also have right wing views on others.

I like to think of myself as a patriotic socialist.

Centre left economics is liberal. We had thirteen years of free market economics under Labour. The left and centre-left are predominantly in favour of EU membership. Labour, the Greens and Lib Dems are all pro Europe and have been for years. Only sections of the far left are anti-EU (not on the grounds of immigration mind) and I'm fairly sure you are anti far-left! Aside from that, it's the right wing of the British political landscape that are anti-Europe.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that marra.

Haway man, that's an article based on a survey done by an energy company that includes the quote

Ania Lichota, moved from Poland to the UK since 2006: 'In England there are so many opportunities; for travel, for culture, music, cuisine, theatre. The financial services where I work, all have their hubs here. I don’t think I will ever be moving back to Poland’

But also states that we have far less holidays, work far more hours than most countries in Europe and we're one of the most unhappiest.

Money isn't everything, hombre.

If the only way Labour can win back voters is via dog-whistle, anti-migrant rhetoric then I hope they don't bother attempting to win them back - whether it's Corbyn or anyone else leading the party.

100% agree, if the only way to win an election is to give in to the xenophobes then I too hope they stick to their guns whatever the consequences.

Okay if you want to think that on the back of a survey done by an energy company that people in Eastern Europe have a better quality of life than in the UK by all means mate, get a job out there

I think we both know that Eastern Europe is considerably less advanced than Western Europe but if you want to think differently, maybe USwitch were right all along!
