Whats the job? If I'm hiring for the local ballet it's a no brainer. Ditto if I'm hiring a statistician.

Just like the person that does a degree in fashion or dance (using the last example). They are clever enough as well. It takes all kinds and there will be a lot of brainy kids that will get degrees in "lesser" subjects because that is what will interest them.
I would guess a bigger percentage of kids would be able to qualify for a dance degree/fashion degree because they will just need A.level points rather than grades in academic subjects at A.level. To even be able to study for a maths degree, you need grades in certain subjects rather than A.level points.

Can we agree that there will be brainy kids in those courses that perhaps chose them because they had a genuine interest in them?

Im at uni but course fees are funded for. If i had to pay 9000 a year i wouldn't bother. Im at sheffield and the facilities are class but that amount of money is obscene for the amount of lectures some people get. My housemate does history and hes never in

Why do you think a BA is less of a degree ? I got a BA from Sunderland and have forged quite a nice career for myself thanks

Or maybe I should've done a BSc and got paid a fortune for studying why toast falls butter side down ? Get a grip

A BA or BSc hasn't been worth shit for at least the last 10 years. Entirely devalued by the most misguided policy ever in UK, "education for all". Congratulations Labour on another well thought out plan

You pay your money you take your chances now like. Get a good degree at a good uni and you should be right.

If you think you can get a job in golf course design after graduating, go for it.

Dance degrees generally require a successful audition, which are fiercely competitive. Fashion degrees generally require a successful portfolio interview, which are fiercely competitive.

More people are capable of passing a maths a-level than of dancing to a standard which will impress an audition panel.

 Which did you pass, the audition or the portfolio interview?

The fashion industry is worth billions man. Using your logic we should be getting rid of history, politics, sociology, English, languages, etc.

Amswer my question. What job am I hiring for? Answer another, how much sight unseen hiring goes on in the world?

'The fashion industry is worth billions man'. So is the porn industry, can you do a BA in porn too?

It's interesting, things like fashion and dance have managed just fine without universities in the past. I wonder why that is.

Oh aye, because they're not even remotely academic.

Absolutely, they're marketable skills, but so is bending 35-yard free kicks, and you can't get a degree in football.

Cynical universities are cashing in on degrees that mean dick all.
