£511m debt but dividends galore: the Glazers’ legacy at Manchester United

In the end of the day they pulled a blinder. Secured loans they’ve never paid back baring in mind the sale price is still comparable to the debt. Yet they manage to take tens of millions in dividends each year and now they have a multi billion pound club just by holding onto it and badly managing it. Genius from a business perspective. Shit from a fan perspective.
They’ve still coughed up and spent a fortune on players though. It’s not totally their fault that the managers bought shite.

Are you saying Man City owners are taking money out of the club?
not directly. they have sold loads of shares in the club for a profit and made cash that way, man city are no longer just owned by "rich arabs" they are owned by a consortium including of amercian hedge funds who bought more hsares this week Subscribe to read | Financial Times.....
all the while taking out loans the club can repay when they are gone...https://www.ft.com/content/c8cdc3f6-b7b9-45a9-8a87-f6e7bb5af92a

but its more the property deals they do in manchester..that make them millions which flow nicely off shore..owning the club gives them the PR to get the deals they need with councils and make the money...https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jul/21/great-english-city-sold-abu-dhabis-elite-manchester

owners dont take money out of the club directly..not if they are intelligent...they make the cash indirectly...
the man city model outlined above looks very like what newcastle owners are doing
