So what would we be able to spend these on if we got them then?
The hospitality sector probably.
I can’t see them letting us drop £500 at Flannels

I'm still waiting for the cycling maintenance voucher that was promised back in May.
Me too - do you think they might have been telling fibs ?
It'll be ready before the end of June was the last government announcement...They're setting it up for cycle repairers to register here:
Fix Your Bike Voucher Repair Scheme
The Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme aims to encourage more people in England to embrace cycling as an alternative to private cars and public transport, particularly while social distancing measures are in place. The scheme will be open to anyone who has an unused cycle in need of a repair. It will...fixyourbikevoucherscheme.est.org.uk
but nothing for the public yet. It looks like the chains have signed up - Halfords, Decathlon and Evans Cycles.

Just reduce the VAT ya buggers
Reducing vat does very little for the poorest in the UK, who spend the majority of their money on vat free goods.Just cut VAT back to what it was before the emergency rise following the 2008 financial crash. That'll put money back in people's pockets without creating a short term boom with no longer term backing to it.
Although, ironically, all the stuff I see these vouchers will be for would be vatable.Reducing vat does very little for the poorest in the UK, who spend the majority of their money on vat free goods.
all that will do is give the companies like Halfords/Decathlon/Evans etc £50 to carry out £20s worth of work and you can almost guarentee anyone taking a cycle to be fixed will get an excess of 10-20 quid to pay as well- added to the fact that decathlon provide free repairs to their cycles anywayThey're setting it up for cycle repairers to register here:

I don’t think they would exclude retail fully, I think it would potentially be available to use any anywhere other than supermarkets. Then the hospitality sector on top.
Another example of 'the war will be over by Christmas'.Maybe they meant next June
Half them post on herePlenty would say sod your voucher rather not die or something similar
I agree seems stupid , all of this will need paying backI'd be over the moon with that, but I can't see it happening tbh.

I get the logic behind it, but it’s going to be difficult to do. If they just give people the cash, a lot will either save the money or pay down debt (which will not help the situation). If they issue a voucher which can be used on the High Street, then it will be abused and you will quickly see high cost items such as iPads appearing on FB at half the cost.
If they do introduce a voucher system, I suspect it will only cover the hospitality sector. Perhaps a couple of £50 vouchers for restaurants and then a larger voucher to hotels/travel.
Don't think these give a toss about the arts sadly. Most actors and musicians hate themConcert venues, theatres seem to be getting less gov focus than nearly all other sectors
