£45m on deeney and Keane

Surely a striker commanding a fee of £30m will have scored a good amount of goals?

He's not a No 9 though, he plays in the hole between the forward and midfield line.

Ighalo's job is to score the goals, Deeney's job is to link up the play, help out defensively and chip in with goals and assists. It's not his primary job to just score goals.

Well it's not like they have a track record of identifying players to fit their system regardless of what others think, and then enjoying spectacular success with an unfashionable bunch of players. ;)

I think the Deeney transfer makes a lot of sense for Leicester. He works like nobody's business, is better than Okazaki or Ulloa as support for Vardy, and he has the type of personality and determination that fit exactly what they're trying to continue.
Couldn't agree more. Leicester have proven that attitude and commitment can be just as important as ability and reputation.

I'm sorry like but this is getting ridiculous. He's a target man. No more no less

Yep, its still about £13m isn't it ? that will go a couple of times in the summer I reckon. Still Deeney and Keane for £45m is absolutely ridiculous, far better value elsewhere.

of course, 45 mill is ridiculous, but is this the times we live in now, as for our transfer record, I believe I would be right in saying that the most expensive player the club brought was Gyan, or has that changed ?

Proven? He's played one season and he's proven?

He scored 20+ goals every season in the Championship for the last three years and 13 goals and 8 assists last season in the PL. For someone who offers more than just an attacking threat that's an excellent return.

I like Deeney, he's better than Okazaki for sure.

£30m seems ridiculous though.

We've bought brilliantly the last five years in the transfer market and I'll just have to trust Walsh knows exactly what he's doing.
I think they are gonna get financially bullied. To be fair Chelsea and Man City do every season

He's a decent enough player and has scored goals in the Championship but the fee is excessive and way over the top whichever way you dress it up.

He's played 2 seasons was shit the first

He wasn't shit, you're judging on perception again.

He played wide left for most of that season and got 5 goals, 9 assists. IIRC he was 5th in the assists stats column and only players like Ozil, Fabregas, Silva, etc were ahead of him

My word. He is not, and I think that post sums up exactly how little people understand what he does.

I don't even think he's a striker. I think he's a No.10, he plays even deeper than Okazaki and dictates a lot of Watford's best play on the ground.

The Sevilla scout is up there but so is Steve Walsh, we've just won the title with a team that cost £22m.

It's easy to ridicule players like Deeney and Keane but the truth is probably no one on here has an educated opinion on them, they just see a couple of plodders from smallish clubs. The one thing I will say in their favour is the fans of these two players clubs don't want them sold even at these prices.
Fuck off, i watched MOTD every week we won. I've seen them

I get what they are doing with the players they are going for. But not for superstar prices.

Just shows you how crazy the market is mind.

13 goals but only about 7or8 in open play that's poor

I think his hold up play is great like, set a load of goals up this season.

for 30mill you would want better surely

Deeney will be 28 in about a weeks time. He's had one years experience in the Prem and he managed 13 goals. f***ing £30m for that?!

He should have £20m knocked off the price just because he's called Troy.
