£45m on deeney and Keane

£30m seems excessive I agree but how many people here are judging Deeney on perception? How many have closely watched him play more than an odd game?

People on here a year a go told me that Mahrez and Vardy are no better than Buckley and Graham and that Kante is shite and just barges into people.

People will tell me Schmeichel & Morgan are crap when they were absolutely brilliant last season and arguably the best players in their position in the PL last season. People are too quick to judge when they don't have a qualified opinion.
I know you could do better than him for 30mill even from his own club you could do better

Of course. I am not discrediting him. Just find it mad that he is 10m and feel we undervalue our own players

Yeah we do, just look at how cheap we sold Connor Wickham for. Not the best of players but English and has 'potential'. That would command 15 mill in this market.

I said could play for England, not should. I also stand by my rating of Vardy.

I can broaden my mind all you like it won't stretch to Troy Deeney being worth £30m. If it weren't Leicester buying himI'm pretty sure you'd find it ludicrous as well.

I do find it ludicrous but I'm trying to be open minded, I'm really, really trying.

Our scouting team aren't mugs and on previous history I have to respect their opinion even though I have my own reservations. There is some snobbery though in why these players aren't as good as their foreign counterparts. If we were buying Ighalo for that kind of money people would think it was a half decent buy even though they've contributed to the same amount of goals and most Watford fans will tell you that Deeney is a much better player.

surely you can attract miles better for cheaper from abroad somewhere even ighalo at Watford would be better

For a reason. He's nowhere near as good as Deeney for a start, as anyone who has watched Watford would agree.

If you stop thinking about Deeney as a pure goalscorer, he's worth easily £20m in 'old' money. As the champions, in this mental era, it doesn't seem as daft as at first glance.

The Sevilla scout is up there but so is Steve Walsh, we've just won the title with a team that cost £22m.

It's easy to ridicule players like Deeney and Keane but the truth is probably no one on here has an educated opinion on them, they just see a couple of plodders from smallish clubs. The one thing I will say in their favour is the fans of these two players clubs don't want them sold even at these prices.
Im surprised you're not in for Ayala to be honest. Best centre half in the Championship by a distance. And I wouldn't want him sold for 10m likewise. Or Gibson

Surely a striker commanding a fee of £30m will have scored a good amount of goals?

All those are on a different planet to Deeney you total prat that's why

Yet no player outside those seven players in the PL contributed to more goals than Deeney last season, if Leicester were signing Barkley, Sanchez, Willian or Payet for that money you'd think it was good business.

I'm dubious myself but I'm not so quick to judge on a player I haven't watched thoroughly.

He has? At every level he's been tested at so far anyway.

30m is excessive but I think it's a good signing if they can spend further. You have to think about attitude as well as ability. Leicester didn't win the title on skill or ability. They won it on team spirit and work ethic. Which is what Deeney has in spades.

If they bought Lukaku or Benteke instead it would affect the team dynamic

Who can the current Champions attract? If all they can attract is Troy Deeney then fuck me they've been dealt a bad hand.

They are not going to attract top class strikers like Zlatan or Morata so getting a PL proven striker is the next best thing.
