£14.5 million for Gyokeres..

I really think the price is purely newspaper speculation. I don’t think there is much doubt that Vik will move on this summer and rightly so, he’s had 2 great seasons and deserves a crack at the Premier league.
The buying club will probably announce a lower fee as they won’t want to be seen paying over the odds and they’ve got a bargain, and we as the selling club will announce it as undisclosed.
The fact that Vik is approaching the last year of his contract would make me think he would go for £18-20m.

What kind of bargaining power do you have to get that kind of money? You're not in a position to hold on to him and let him go for free next year and he will absolutely want to move to the Premier League so you're in a position where you're forced to sell. That sees the price drop significantly. £14m seems about right to me.

Market forces, supply and demand. Goalscorers of Viks age are highly sort after and virtually every bottom half Premier league team have been linked along with interest from abroad. The amount of interest will determine the fee.
We have new owners so don’t feel there is the need to ‘give’ players away as was the case with Sisu. We signed Gyokeres for £1m+ so even if he stays for one more year then walks away for free we’ve lost nothing and had the services of one of the Championships best players for an extra year and whose to say we don’t go one penalty kick further.

Blackburn didn’t get a sniff from clubs last summer when they valued BBD at £14-15m in a similar contract situation. I’d be surprised if you manage to get more than that tbh. Gyokeres is a great player though.

Bargain price in today’s market. Just compare it to some other strikers signed by Premiership clubs over the last few years

Scamacca to West Ham - £30.5m
Solanke to Bournemouth - £19m
Daka to Leicester - £23m

Barely 20 league goals between them in over 150 games
scammacca has done a lot more in his career than gyorkes and is being linked with a return to italy to play for top clubs..

Not that we had the slightest chance to get him but him and Stewart up front would win the league single handedly.

In the real world, he’d be the perfect Everton signing
Could say the same about Boro with Gyokeres and Akpom as our strike force.
or any club with a decent striker plus Gyokeres.

Given his age and ability, I think he's worth twice that in the current climate, all day long.
It all depends on contract situations nowadays. I f you have someone on a 3 year plus contract, you are in control, but anything less than 18 months and it get's twitchy. 12 months or less, and you basically have to weigh up every single offer, as 14 million quid to a club in the championship is hard money to lose

Time will tell but I think someone bottom half will take a punt for a little more than that.
