If a company had 15,000 TV's to sell, they would still be there the following day and they could then start to offer deals.

However, with 15,000 seats to sell, you won't be able to sell them 'tomorrow'. Can't blame the club for trying to get what they can for them

Point taken, but then what's the point of buying a season ticket?

it means you get a seat at the games when there won't be any cheap tickets and on the off chance we get to an FA Cup semi or final you'll get a ticket. If we get to the final, you can guarentee that we'll have 50,000 who swear blind they've not missed a game for years

Last season it worked it out that by buying a season ticket you were more or less paying the same amount as someone going to every match and making the most of every cheap ticket deal offered. If you were unable to make 1 game as a season ticket holder you lost out.

This season it looks like season ticket holders are going to be well out of pocket compared to someone going to every match and taking advantage of all the offers which isn't right.

I know people who have packed their season tickets in in the past because of the cheap offers but it's never been as bad as this before. To be honest a few years back I couldn't have really cared less but for me, and for a lot of other people, money is far tighter these days. I haven't had a pay rise in over 4 years whilst everything else costs more (including my season ticket). I'm far more careful with what I spend now and now I know I can get a better deal watching SAFC by not buying a season ticket that is what i'll do.

Just annoys me that I struggle to save up the cash for my Season ticket so I can pay into the club before the season starts only for others just to join in throughout the season and get in far cheaper.

Like I said I won't fall for it again, and although it will be a wrench to give up the seat i've had since the SoL was built, my renewal will go straight into the bin next time around.

*heh*

If only everybody had that attitude, the club would be moaning about shite attendance and ST sales.

Then it would make them do something about it and make buying a season ticket a more attractive option than game by game tickets. Everyones a winner.

Exactly. Either stop all these ticket offers or reduce season ticket prices accordingly. Can't think of another club anywhere where season ticket holders are paying more than casual fans.

Chelsea and villa were paddy power 2 for £20, next 3 have offers such as Nissan schools etc. We were handing out free tickets for the west brom game, that only leave Newcastle and Stoke where there was no offers iirc. So it is actually 6 out of first 8 I think.

Man city on new years day is a paddy power 2 for £20 aswell.

To be fair, the Paddy Power offers are only for about 100 tickets. Its not exactly a huge offer that most fans get wind of.

and the others are dependant on working at Nissan or the HRMC or going to all the local schools in the area

I was just saying that whilst there have been offers for most games this season, some are more substantive than others. Therefore, most don't have access to them and most certainly don't take advantage of them.

There'll be some who have had an offer or two, but there can't be many who are getting cheapies week after week......

I'm a non season ticket holder who has paid full whack every game, bet there's more like me than there are who have had 6 cheap matches out of 8.

The club need to be creative with this. At the end of the day income from the gate only contributes about £13m or so. If they were happy to keep it at that level but at the same time fill the stadium they could do one of two things.

40k season tickets at £250 (no concessions) and £20 on the day. A full stadium (48k) gives you £13m.

No season tickets and a flat fee of £15. A full stadium gives you £13.7m.

Surely either of those two options would give us a full house.

IF they took control of the catering and offered a decent product at a fair price they would take much more on match days to compensate.

I'm agreeing with you! There would only be a very small group of people in a position to get the freebies/cheap tickets every single home game

The only 2 games that there haven't been ticket offer for this season to my knowledge were against the mags and against Stoke. Less than 32,000 home fans turned up against Stoke and every game since has had a variety of ticket offers on. I understand that they want to try and get the crowd figure up to that 40k mark but the club also need to understand that season ticket holders should always be given the best deals, and if they feel like they are being ripped off, a percentage of them won't renew.

Our ST sales are at the lowest they've been for a few years now, despite us finishing last season in our highest position for a long time, and will continue to drop because we know we aren't getting value for money compared to walk up fans.

Some decent ideas. Either way the club has got to be a lot more creative when it comes to filling the stadium.

In the current climate its about supply and demand. We know if tickets were cheaper we would fill the stadium and probably make as much money with all the merchandise, better food contracts etc than we do with the hard core 35,000.

As a season ticket holder I want to see the stadium filled - if the club throws me a bonus now and again with cheaper tickets for friends or voucher for the club shop I have no probs whatsover with ticket deals to fill the stadium.

If we have 48,000 in with full voice people will want to come and maybe pay more in the longer term.

Is this the right time and place to ask if anyone has a cheap ticket for the Wigan game!!!!
Flying over from Berlin and will pay on the gate if necessary.
Cheers!!
Tin hat firmly in place!

It's a vicious circle really. Season ticket sales are now down to around 25,000 meaning that there are 23,000 seats going spare for every game. They keep putting these offers on in the hope of trying to fill as many of them as possible but by doing so are making the season ticket an even less attractive purchase so no doubt season ticket sales will fall again next summer.

What they should have done, and this is one of the reasons I am against moving the away fans, is to close off the Upper bowl of the stadium entirely and concentrate on filling up the Lower bowl because lets face it, there's only going to be 2 or 3 games this season where the seats in the Upper bowl would be required. You get a sense of a fuller stadium, the fans are more packed in together which makes for a better atmosphere and we would have more fans behind the goals.
