He's already been offered a 1 year extension to his current deal by Bolton (so effectively 18 months)...he won't go anywhere for less than a 2 year deal.....why would he?

If this is the case, and I would point out that an earlier poster (post #6) has indicated that Bolton have withdrawn their offer of a new contract to Davies, then I would suggest that we let Bolton retain and pay for his services. I look forward to watching the never particularly mobile or swift Davies leading the Bolton Wanderers forward line as a 37 years old.

could have Indian summer here. with larson, Mclean, Richardson and Sess, I think he could score 5+ before the end of season.
will Wickham??

Give the kid a chance man ffs. He was doing well before his injury, a knee injury!!!! Not easy to get over. He's 18 years old!!!!!

Deary me, I really do despair of some people's lack of knowledge of the game (the real one not fm or fifa)

Kind of player who would give us something more than we have now for games like Stoke, the Mags, teams that tend to fluster the opposition. Won’t be bullied, plenty experience. Shrewd move so long as he isn't her for much over a year/year and a half and cheap

lack of knowledge? FFS:lol:

we waited around last season instead of replacing Bent and looked what happened.
Wickham doesn't look fit, thats my main issus with him not his ability
He is one next season.

We need a striker now!

Struggling to think of a better player in the prem to get on the end of the quality crosses we have from either wing now.

Agree with that.

Agree with that too.

This would be an example of trying to be cheap actually costing you more.

£1.5m for a 35 year old has been as a cheap option, plus an 18 month contract that will cost £2-3m.

So probably about £4m all in for a short term fix of a signing that we would need to replace basically straight away.

If it is truly more expensive to buy in January, we'd be better off putting some of that £4m towards paying the 'January premium' for a longer term solution, who would also be a better player, eg Barios.

Or failing that, just give the lads we already have a chance and review the situation in the summer.

People need to think how many free kicks davies wins around the edge of the box , this will perfectly providing seb with numerous free kick opportunities

Not really my number 1 choice but the blokes been playing in the prem for years so no settling in period, got into the England squad last season (despite his age) and is generally known as a right nuisance upfront and Wickham could learn a thing or 2 off him, I think (for the short term) could do a job for us.

If MON thinks he's still good enough then it's good enough for me.

Problem is it won't really be a short term thing or cheap deal.

He turned down 12 month contact at Bolton, so will be looking for 18 - 24 months. Regardless of transfer fee etc, it will cost us a good amount over the contract he wants.

Not for me, i'd rather give Wickham the chance and buy someone in the summer

Odd one this, can't imagine the wages we are offering will be that much better than Bolton where he is already established and is a bit of a key player.

He's not a key player any more, he's a sub.

Hes not been getting a game, i reckon hes fell out with coyle as well. If mon wants him thats good enough for me. Davies was being wanked over last season, might just need that mon touch to get him back in form.
