O' Neill has already said that the January window is difficult to get the players in we want. I'm sure everyone knows that anyway. Although I think Davies could be an important player for us for the rest of this season, he'll not be the top Striker O'Neill is after. We'll sign him in the Summer.

£1.5m is peanuts and although he's not the best Striker around I think MON could work wonders with him.

We're in a position where we need a short term fix. Davies would do exactly that, also heis experience would help the likes of Wickham and Ji.

Why go for a short term fix when we can bring in a better player? Surely there are better players than Davies available.

At his age and based on this season's form that's all he's worth......and he's probably going to want a 2 year deal.

IF O'Neill however sees something else in the deal....ie a role model for Wickham and a potential coaching role (Davies always comes across as quite intelligent in interviews) then it's a good deal.

There's no doubt in my mind that O'Neill will rejuvenate him short term and he will be an asset this season.

That's a definite it'll be his last big payday so he's going to want a big wage as well.

He would be a very exciting signing from what I seen of him last year.

What's the source like mate? Decent or our version of the sun?

Bild.de, others have said that's their equivalent of the Sun, not sure how true that is but there seems to be a bunch of German sites carrying it now.

Could also be Roque Santa Cruz II

And oh how we laughed when them jokers up the road bought Shefki ! (Think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts....) In Martin we trust

Not comparable at all in my opinion. At least Davies was good at some stage in his career (excellent only less than a year ago).

I don't really care what the form of the players O'Neill signs is, he's proven his ability to get extra out of limited players, that's his main strength, playing the transfer market isn't. I'd put money on him getting Davies performing better than Coyle has had him playing this season.

I still don't think there are many better players than Davies at holding the ball up!

I never understand this "we need a player to hold the ball up" shite. We simply need a striker who can put the ball in the net, must every player we go after be able to hold the ball up? I'm unsure why it's such a special gift. Lots of good players can bring the ball down and lay it off.

Davies was good a few seasons ago, he's lost the plot now, will have no sell on fee and is hardly going to get the fans racing back.

One of the best (if not the best) targetman in the premier league. Snap him up asap! If thats our game plan, to play 1 up top with sess, mcclean, and larss behind i'm sure as hell not gonna agrue with sir MoN

Fingers crossed. Maybe Bendtner injury may force us into a larger outlay than originally planned.

Can see it working a treat in the short term tbh.
