Is this possible or a massive coincidence

Last week I got a call from mobile phone company trying to flog me a new phone.

I bought an iPhone 11 when they came out but then decided to break the cycle of new phone as this is decent and does more than I wanted to.

The fella on the phone asked twice about the condition of the phone more specifically the batter retention.

Ever since this call I’ve noticed my battery levels seem to discharge a lot quicker than before and instead of charging once a day at night, it’s twice a day.

If this coincidence or something more sinister?
The weird thing was I mentally took note of him saying “when your battery starts to go, give us a call for an upgrade”

Apple have allegedly been caught remotely updating phones OS to make them less efficient & therefore deplete the battery. France has been the only country to have the balls to call them out & fine them.

I was reading about this on The Register. Apparently they can call you up and play an ultrasonic series of sounds that you can’t hear but the phone picks up. It triggers a change in the background settings to get the phone to attempt to connect to the original factory network. It obviously can’t find it (unless you live in the factory!) so it wastes energy hunting for it 24/7, similar to how your battery drains faster when not connected to a wifi network but with wifi on.

The suggested solution is a swift tap on the apple logo on the back of the phone with a pin hammer.

I had two people in one day envy me for not having a mobile phone. I said to both "Just stop using it" same answer from both "My whole life would be affected"
