"Pay extra to stand"!...fekking worlds going mad!.......Its not what happens in europe .....I think thats partly the problem with implementation some clubs have a finite fanbase they will lose revenue because i dont think people will pay more to stand they will rightly want to pay less.
Why would you think it would cost less? You take up the same space.

what have you heard like? there is safe standing sections at celtic, old trafford, stamford bridge, cardiff (if memory serves correctly) and none of them were designed with it in mind.

what is it about the SOL that makes it more costly than other grounds? surely you just remove the seats that are there now, and install the hand railings?
I've heard from within the club exactly what I posted. I'm not saying it would be more expensive than other established grounds, just that it will be more expensive than 21st century grounds (like Brentford) where they knew rail seating could be a future consideration and factored its possible later addition into the design.
Sunderland won't rush into it. It may happen, when they consider what happens elsewhere, but we won't be trailblazers.

Aye, the migration of fans to the back is the underlying cause of the majority of problems. There are a few ideas being discussed to solve this problem.
Sounds like bairns carrying on daft at the back of the school bus 🙄.
Yes definitely. My shins are usually wrecked in the South Stand after a big goal. This would solve that issue.
Aye. You can wreck your belly instead on the rail in front....
how old are you mate?seats have always cost more than standing!
But these safe standing areas also have (rail) seats. Seems a bit daft to me, like.

All away games should just be unallocated seating anyway. If you are in the minority who do want to sit go to the first couple of rows and let the rest to just stand wherever they want with the mates

Someone from my branch asked that question a while ago and was told the police don’t like the idea as its harder to track trouble makers

Also depends if away ends are gonna have safe standing installed, will they make the whole end safe standing or leave some rows as normal

At least the bars don't have a lip on them like the seats which cause bumps and scrapes though.

In existing safe standing areas, the seats are locked upwards for non-European competitions so you can't just pull it down to sit when you feel like it.

Why does it have to be installed in the Roker End? I think a new singing section and safe standing should be north west upper, next to the away fans. More atmosphere when there is a bit to and fro between fans.A more left wing section, like the ultras of St pauli, livorno, rayo vallecano, boca juniors, marseille. The unity amongst these fans are second to none, as they are inclusive to everyone (gay, black, women), and are extremely anti fascist. The embarrassing knee booers can stay in the roker end, whilst a new, louder , less fascist, more organised, section springs up in the north west upper

This would be class. I think it would look great too.

But someone could sell their ticket to someone they don't know.

Agreed. Man Utd have done this for years, self-police by the fans of course.

Far to close to the corporate seats

They could mate but technically your not supposed to resell match tickets.

If you did sell a ticket that you had purchased via SC sales for example, then in theory you could have your SC cancelled if the person causes trouble

That's fair enough mate, but I doubt the police would do anything would they? The club, yes possibly, but you could say I lost my ticket.
