When Nirvana Came To Britain

saw them on totp then up to the mayfair. didn't get the attraction back then tbh. it was just a gig to go to.
Aye. I had a ticket and didn’t bother!
Often regretted it but now not so much as I’ve really gone off them. And I’m sick of Dave. His band are bland and he’s constantly on tv in every other bands documentary:lol:

i don't mind him, always comes across as being a decent bloke. some nirvana stuff is shit and wouldn't be as popular if cobain hadn't topped himself imo.

Yeah he comes across decent and god help him putting up with Kurt and even more Courtney who is horrendous.
It’s just he’s on everything.
Crooked Vultures - Daves your man
KISS documentary? - Dave’s on it
Hardcore punk documentary? - Dave’s from Washington DC doncha know
Nolans documentary? - Dave bought I’m In The Mood For Dancing 12 inch

Watched something on either BBC or Sky a while ago about Scottish music (particularly that from Bellshill). Kurt loved a band called Vaselines who later became Captain America and then Eugenius as Marvel made them change their name.

That was on Sky. Really good doc centred on Eugene to a degree.
I had the Eugenius album but no idea of the connection or the fact that he was indeed Captain America! Very talented guy, shame he didn't make it big. Then again judging by the documentary I don't think he would have wanted too.

I think he had issues with fame and his level of comfortableness with it and tended to shy away. That documentary also focused heavily on Duglas T Stewart from BMX Bandits who, similarly, was a cracking songwriter but had more direct mental health issues. Both are people who should be a lot more widely known.

TBH, that's kind of a reflection of the indie/alt-rock scene in the early 90s. Kurt Cobain was probably the most important musician on the planet to 6% of us, known by another 6% and unknown to most until very close to his death.
A really important band for me, and I’ve really enjoyed watching this. In Utero and Unplugged (as well as Nevermind) are really special records

Foo Fighters first record was good, they’ve bored the shit out of me since

I really like Dave Grohl, the man, but first album, maybe second to a degree, don't understand the appeal of Foo Fighters. Better than Maroon 5 though.
