Fat genes

It is genetic, some people do put on weight and keep it on and struggle all their life with it.I don’t know an overweight person though who’s not bone-idle to the core though. So it’s a mixture of genetics ,lifestyle as we all know.

live and let live Is my moto.

It's not genetics (although there are exceptions). Genetics will contribute to and determine fat and muscle distribution but not growth primarily. If you're tubby its because you regularly have a caloric surplus. If genetically you're long and lean then muscle and fat growth will be more distributed than if you're short and pear shaped.

Because they would have been in a calorie deficit, you wouldn't have been.
But that’s the point isn’t it? You could feed 100 people identical diets and they’d all lose weight at different rates.
With regard to the OP, if you’re a fatty and you go on a diet and do a load of exercise only to find you’ve lost 2 pound, it’s soul destroying.

Would they?

It shouldn't be. You'll look much better and will have built muscle and have less fat.

No they wouldn't, someone naturally bigger (e.g. taller, more muscular, larger bones, etc) is going to burn more calories than someone more petite regardless of any exercise.

Food is far too convenient nowadays, I would hazard a guess that biggest majority of young people at Uni could not prepare a healthy meal nevermind cook one. Unhealthy junk food delivered to your doorstep.... I really can't see this mentality changing, 😕

I was meant to be doing the Sunderland HM this weekend, and as a treat and for me to eat back the calories it was going to be a pizzas ordered in for the family. Not something we do very often as I'm also calories counting.

Now, I got injured on Wednesday. So run is off and so is the pizza. Daughters first thought was let's get a take away (yesterday) to make up for the fact we are not getting one on Sunday. Rather than just say oh well.

It's to easy as you say. As I've said before you have to change your mindset and it can be done. There are plenty people out there as proof, Including myself on this high horse I'm siting on.

A valid excuse for being overweight?

no it’s a load of shite. Fat people who eat unhealthily and do no exercise, will feed their kids unhealthily and not encourage them to exercise, it’s that simple.

always somebody/ something else’s fault.

I completely agree with this. Some people can lose weight at the drop of a hat, with others it takes a huge effort to move it. I’ve been on a “diet” of sorts for over a year and I’ve lost nothing. I know people who could eat the same and lose stones.

Don’t you drink shit loads or did you stop that?

A few years ago my old Grandad (sadly passed now) was listening to some girlfriend who'd tagged along to a BBQ we were having.
She was a bit of a tubber and was telling her mate how it was hard to lose weight and had been to the doctors etc etc.

He interjected, "Listen pet, it's quite easy, eat less and exercise more, thats it"
She then started to (matter of factly) try to put him in his box explaining that the doctor though it might be thyroid or glandular and was sending her for tests.

"Oh really" he replied "Then those four burger you've just smashed through and that bottle on wine you've more of less nailed are fresh air are they?"
"I served in the navy and one of our jobs was to pick up the POWs at the end of the war and bring them home and tell you what, there was no fat bloke at the end of the line that day with glandular issues with a gut like yours and there were thousands of them all skin and bone".

Pretty blunt I must admit, but I thought he had a canny point. Yes, people gain and lose weight at different rates, but of your not losing weight you need to try harder.
Eat Less Exercise More basically.

That’s a shite comparison mind. 😂

A couple of months in the Auschwitz Boot Camp would sort her out.
