What have you done today.?

Today was the first day for my volunteering at the care home where my mother in law is. The do have some positive cases in the home, who have been sent to hospital and some showing symptoms, who are being isolated in their rooms.

The home also has staff off, so they asked for volunteers to go in and help at mealtimes. Me and the missus (no) went at lunchtime, i fed Bob his sunday dinner, then sat 1-1 with Stan, as he's prone to getting up and wandering. Normal visits were understandably stopped a couple of weeks ago, so this also gave us the chance to see the mother in law for a short time too.

I'm going tuesday morning next, to help with breakfasts.

When we got home i went for a ride on my bike. Having a couple of beers now before bedtime.
Sorry mate, its very admirable your volunteering, but how can the home allow volunteers in when family members can't visit. Are you CRBchecked ?

I volunteered as a family member, they do know us. I'm not sure if thats the same for other volunteers. Yes, i'm CRB checked, although my missus is not, they did not ask for any CRB paperwork. Although i said 1-1, you were never left alone, it was in a communal lounge with other staff around

Ok mate. My Mrs is a carer and coming home in bits having to tell the people they're caring for and the family also that they can't see each other. It's a shit situation all round, respect for volunteering, I'll be doing the same.

I pottered about in the greenhouse, then did a bit of shopping. It's all very civilised here in Alnwick just now. When I drove to the town centre it was like a ghost town, not that it's ever very busy since they scrapped Alnwick Fair a few years ago.

Working from home with a 3 year old for company - now chilling after dinner then back to do more work for few more hours after he goes to bed.
Roll on going back to work

Went through some Year 1 maths and science
Watched three episodes of Ozark
Lifted weights in the garage
Just about to start an online course with the OU

Finished a game on my phone, Monument Valley 2. Free currently, worth a look. I enjoyed it.
Read in the bath for an hour. The Way of All Flesh by Brookmyre. It's canny so far.
Did a First Aid Course so I can stick it on my CV after all this blows over.
Went for a short walk for my daily exercise.
Played a game of Suzie Dent's Two Words with my missus via the Internet.
Did a bit of writing on a short story I'm working on.

Overall, a canny full day. Trying to keep myself occupied. Off to watch a film now, Summer of 84.

Did lots of home work today. Only the interesting stuff though. I took the dogs for a walk though and that was fun. For me anyway! My big dog Ragnar (45 kg) usually get a a 10 mile walk so he is massively unimpressed with a couple of miles.

I have just discovered a new (for me) series on SKY 1 called Bullet Proof. I love it so binging tonight for me. Gangster stuff but with British humour. INEVITABLY in London but hardly any whining, shrieking Cockernee voices.

Supplies of Chinese toilet paper are holding up well. Good stuff! So it should be. Had a massive triumph . . . actually got onto the Asda grocery delivery site and Ordered some toilet paper. Doesn't mean it will arrive but I experienced a moment of pure joy.

Scraping the barrel a bit today. Translated two articles, worked on some ideas to keep my blog alive while there's no new sport to talk about, baked cakes with the 3yo, squabbled with wife (no) and 3yo.

Downloaded a couple of yoga videos since I need to do something about keeping active. Doubt I'll ever actually attempt any yoga, mind.

Two weeks of self-isolation ends tomorrow, so I'm planning to go wild and walk 100m to the front street and buy some food. This town won't know what's hit it.

I'm working from home but believe it or not, I phoned in sick as I've had terrible stomach cramps all day. Just couldn't concentrate.

Wife's classed as a key worker, turned our spare room into what looks like the dashboard on Star Trek Picard.
I counted today, she has supped 9 cups of tea.
I'm getting plenty of fecking exercise on the stairs.
