Big Sam

I want Ross to succeed here I really do but if he was to go Big Sam would by number one choice, give him a decent wage in League 1 and when he gets us promoted to the championship, he gets a wage increase and if he gets us to the prem then he can have a premier league wage, you want a good manager you have to pay for it. I loved it when big sam was our manager in the premiership, remember beating Chelsea 3-2 and then Everton 3-0 to stop up and send the mags down and Big sam getting the crowd fired up at the final whistle in front of the cameras. He had to leave for the England job but when that happened it all went downhill for us, plus he is experienced and knows how to arrange a defence, attack teams and strike a fine balance between them both that works.

problem being if he hangs on a month or so chances are he'll be able to go straight to his normal top 10-15 in the world premier league wage

Don't people who complain about Ross being too negative in one breath and then advocate Fat Sam in their next breath see the irony in what they're saying?

There is a lot more to Fat Sam's time here than his last two matches.
I agree with the last bit. Pretty sure we lost just once in the last 15/16 games of that season. That run after he got the 3 K’s in is what pretty much kept us up. I bet we didn’t have many better runs in our 10 season stint.

traitor - stabbing the gaffer in the back.

it has become apparent, having spoken to some footballers I know (low level) that we can't play for 90 minutes as we are not fit enough. If we were fit enough we'd likely win most games as when we aren't tired we play well. Is it as simple as this? Long ball when we are tired? When you look at the midfield hardly surprising with McGeady and Leadbitter getting ready for retirement.
There’s something in that for sure. It’s bizarre really as the new lads all talk about how intense the training is. I still wouldn’t want Big Sam because I think he’s a crook and ruins the future.....but he certainly managed the fitness and team roles of individual players beautifully.

No it wasn't. He had 24 games in charge and took over with us 9 points behind 7th place. At the end of the season he'd clawed back 4 of those points having spent over £40m on transfers and pocketing £6m.
Just out of interest, how far were you from a relegation spot and how many games had you won before he took over?

Probably marra but if he gets us up to the premier league and we taking over by Dell and the others would be worth it but still hoping Ross comes through so it won't matter

We were 5 points clear in 13th with 4 wins.
So he started 9 points from 7th and 5 points clear of a relegation spot.
He finished 5 points from 7th and 16 points clear of a relegation spot.

Sounds reasonable to me as I’d expected teams in the top 7 to continue picking up more points than those in the bottom 7.

But he set up his teams to play a spoiling game. He's basically Pulis in a suit.

There's Fat Sam negativity in charge of a team punching above its weight in the PL and there's Jack Ross negativity in charge of a team with the highest budget in the league.

How much has your current manager spent and what position did you finish last season?
