Daniel Sturridge

He got his brother to bet on him being transferred to Sevilla. But it didn’t happen.

So hes the RAOS King, wasn’t even ITK about his own career
I just saw the bottom of that BBC article that Werld Kulass manager Rafa was done over by Mag hated Pardew!:lol:

Sturridge was being messaged by both Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez and then West Brom manager Alan Pardew, and revealed his dilemma.

At 11.02am on 29 January, he texted his brother to say he was "still in deep thought", that Newcastle were a better team "historically" but West Brom's formation might suit him better.

The player messaged Pardew 45 minutes later to say he had agreed a move to the Baggies and he signed later that day.

He didn’t do anything wrong. If you read the article, people he was asking for advice (family and friends) bet on him moving. He had nothing to do with the bets. Very harsh considering people will see he’s been given a ban and assume he’s guilty of something more sinister

Fair enough, that’s a bit different. Very sad if his family members did that to him. At least he got his dog back.

His agent is his uncle Dean (ex-Derby, Wolves etc). They had dinner and a few chats with Dean's son present. Daniel's cousin/Dean's son and his mates did the betting.

The FA report is a fascinating insight into how shambolic the transfer business is. At one point an Inter Milan agent told Dean to expect a bid 'tomorrow'. The next day odds dramatically dropped on Daniel moving to Inter. Liverpool didn't get around to telling Dean/Daniel until 2 days after that.

So then they started following odds on transfers as the market seemed more in the know than they were. I'd be fuming if my employer was able to keep me in the dark about future opportunities until it suited them.

There is this other bit where they are confident a bid will come from WBA if the Baggies didn't manage to land Troy Deeney; happened as we know. So they started to follow the odds on Deeney. Unfortunately for Daniel and Dean the guy they kept ringing for odds from was one of Dean's son's mates who worked for a bookie. He was in on the betting thing too. Even got his missus and a mate of hers in on it too.

The WhatsApp convo's in the report are hilarious. Tip: if you ever become a pro footballer, get a proper experienced agent, not a family member who happened to be an ex-pro. Dean's heart seemed in the right place but...
