Dublin

Go to Clondalkin instead of the tourist pubs.
I've been to Dublin more times than I can remember.
Each time we went there we'd take the Dart to get away from the city for a day.
I enjoyed Malahide but only a few pubs there.
Howth was ok, but Bray (in Co Wicklow) was ideal.
A small seaside place with loads of pubs just off the seafront, and it's only around 30 minutes out of Dublin.

There is supposed to be a good pub on a mountain on the outskirts?
We stayed in glasnevin once near bohemian’s stadium iirc and the local pubs were good.

Leopardstown Races is recommended. Good track. Champions Day in September we’ll worth a look.
We used to go over every year for that weekend. You had champions day at Leopardstown on the Saturday afternoon, Greyhound derby at Shelbourne on the Saturday night then the all Ireland final at Croke Park on the Sunday.
Class weekend that always resulted in a 30 hour bender with no kip.

They then started to break it up in to different weekend which was a shame.

Why would you go to Clondalkin unless you’re in a caravan?

There are 3 pubs and 2 of them are shit!
It’s an opportunity to see the real Ireland. The GAA club also serves alcohol and will be receptive to British stag parties.

That's where I'm from
I liked the ‘Botanic gardens’ pub but one of the group kept referring to it as the ‘Britannic Gardens’ which was something of a faux pas.

We also spent some time in glasnevin cemetery searching for the graves of the famous people buried there.

English folk take the piss out of their own capital city, which is rightly recognised as one of the best capital cities in the world. The Irish lose their shit over a bit ribbing over what is seen as a shite capital city by comparison

Keep up the good work boys n girls.

30+ countries, probably treble that in cities

Granted I’m not the most travelled person, but Dublin and temple bar is a cracking place for a couple of days

Best places in earth, well you probably meant on but come on. In over 30 plus countries and more in cities you initially thought it was the best place on earth, what was in the Guinness?

Yes, obviously meant ‘on’

Maybe a slight exaggeration  but it is excellent. Depends what you want. If you like beaches, restaurants, sun, culture then this is maybe not the place. But if you want a piss up with the lads and not far to travel Dublin is up there

Rightly recognised as one of the best capital cities in the world if you want to be stabbed.

I'm not a fan of Dublin, by the way.

I've been to Croke Park twice, to watch Waterford playing in the senior Hurling quarter and semi finals.
It's an impressive stadium, and we were sat at the top of the Cusack Stand.
We were in Dublin to watch Sunderland playing in a pre season friendly against Bohs iirc, and on the Sunday, my mates from Waterford were in Dublin for the quarter final of the hurling, so the landlord of the Hill 16 pub, roped a VIP area off for us and my Waterford mates to sit in.
We had a waitress service and free food, and Waterford won by 1 point.
We went back later for the semi final which they lost by 1 point and missed out on an All Ireland final.
