This was the first ever essential mix i ever heard. I "borrowed" this off my brother and it quite literally blew me away - everyone at school at the time were listening to after dark tapes and then this came along. After this i was hooked onto house music. Yes the mixing isnt great but so what its all about tune selection for me. Some unreal tracks on this

I got my first set of decks a year after hearing this.

Sasha EM - often voted the best ever EM


Not so much old skool but this one is, I remember loving this tape, hated the MCs back in the day (still do) just stfu and let me hear the music.

I think my favourite Sasha EM was live from Amnesia in 96. Still have it on tape and managed to find an mp3 version a while back, was a mint set....managed to get most of the tracks on vinyl back in the day and still have them.

Is that Sasha one where they were banging on about him using ableton with his maven controller? Was boring as fuck that one!

For Sasha you can’t go past the renaissance mix collection part 1. This and the Nicky Holloway one had me hooked on house music.
