Welbeck went on to make a lot of money but will be forgotten as if he never existed in the world of football despite playing for 2 of England's top teams.

Obviously the money will be nice but I wonder if he kicks himself knowing he had it all for the taking

Injuries as much as anything stopped him fulfilling his potential

His goal scoring record has always been pretty patchy

Bit harsh on the lad I think. He was never gonna be an out and out goalscorer, and injuries have held him back quite a bit. Van Gaal didn't fancy him and got rid which I think most people would agree wasn't massively fair on the lad. He's got a decent record for England and he's never let us down.
 
There was carnage on here when he signed. Not good enough because he hadn't done well at Preston.

6 months later the same people were spitting dummies out because we weren't signing him permanently

He’s insanely injury prone is the problem tbh

I liked Wellbeck at Sunderland. He gave it everything and I was struck by ability to run with the ball.

I think he's achieved as much as he is capable. He's decent but not in the top bracket of players to be regulars for Man Utd or Arsenal imo.
