Ankle ligaments

Nightmare...2 months at least

This. Was two months before pain went and was not right in terms of football for about 6 month.

I didnt even have a big tear. Think it depends on which ligament. Mine was down the outside of my right ankle. Knew id done it as within seconds looked like someone had put a golfball under the skin and felt sick

Aye get it strengthened up properly, if they stay weak you keep going over on them and it becomes a vicious cycle. Maybe ultrasound might help as it starts to heal ?
Spot on ,mine had popped out and healed stretched over a bone. 6 week cycle of thinking it had healed, trying to play footy and knacking it again until ultrasound and excercises

done mine trying to recapture my youth playing footy in the Washington arms beer garden last night. Got myself a moon boot and crutches till Friday when I get a scan to see how badly! Anyone done them before? Best case a couple of weeks worst case months and an op,is that about right! The Qe were great today hail to the nhs

Just run the fucker off you soft shite

Done mine loads of times but it didn't stop me playing footy. Strap it up and take a couple of nurofen and I was raring to go.

Done mine about 10-12 year ago playing 5 a side. Ankle like a balloon and went purple half way up me calf. Was in a pot and on crutches for about 6 weeks. When I got it off my leg and ankle were as weak as anything for at least another 3 month. Took about 6 month to get back to playing again and a month or two after to play pain free.

Done them again 3 year ago while playing football steaming at a BBQ at work. Duty Wheels drove me to hospital, was x-rayed, told just a sprain. Wasn’t allowed crutches as apparently would stiffen up and get worse, I needed to keep it moving. Went sick on the Monday morning; Med Centre had been waiting for me as they’d had a call from the x-ray dept at the hospital to tell them my ankle was badly broken in 2 places. I’d been hobbling about on the bastard for 2 days!! Straight into a moon boot and another 3 month of physio before I was good to go again, but lost about 3cm in movement of my ankle.

Never a good idea playing football when drunk. Bloody nightmare

They put mine in a cast as they said it's easier to walk in a cast than with the moon boot. Was good in a way as I could hobble about within about a week and walk (slowly) within 2 but the swelling was a bastard, wanted to rip the fucker off. They originally said I had to have it on for 6 weeks but got them to remove it after 4, first few days it felt very weak but was signed off and back running 2 weeks later. Haven't had any problems since

Did both of mine when I was younger, was playing a few weeks later. If I did them now I’d be in a wheelchair for about a month

Ligaments and tendons take a bit longer to heal than bones. Up to 16 weeks.

Did my patella tendon. Needed a major operation to repair it followed by seven weeks in full leg cast, and further five months with a leg brace. Hospital didn’t allow physio to be started until about 14 weeks after the operation.

Physio was fun, basically the muscle/tendon memory had all but disappeared so it was very much getting my leg to do everyday stuff!

Never the same again once they’ve gone. Post op physio physio physio. Good luck fella.

Every timescale given on here is irrelevant until you get a grade diagnosis. Swelling will reduce and a scan will follow. How bad is the bruising? Does it move up from the foot into tibia region or up the back where the Achilles is ?

Is it the medial (inside) lateral (outside)

MGF and BPC-157 if you want to heal up quicker.

Remember there's reduced blood flow to ligaments compared to muscle tissue, so try to make sure there's amino acids on the blood stream prior to any rehab work once you're able. Make sure you're eating enough also, as one of the worst things you can do when injured is eat less

I done mine 4 months ago, just started running after resting for a few weeks and then doing ankle exercises.

Didn't bother going to walk in until after 6 weeks.

Still getting a bit of pain but the physio said that's because the ankle is weak, keep running on it and you'll be okay. Been back running 10 days now and there's still pain there, just not a lot.

I ripped mine along with breaking my tib and fib pkaying in 2001 (my foot was faxing backwards and had to be broken back). I dont thibk the ligaments have ever been the same and ache fairly regularly after any exercise.
Also did a ligament in my knee (can't remember which). Was told it would take 6 weeks to heal. That was about 8 years ago and still knackered when my knee twists.

All the bruising is on the outside of the ankle and around the Achilles area, yet it’s much more tender on the inside of the ankle. I guess I’ll find out the damage at my appointment on Friday!

Aye, took THREE years before I could play again; I had swelling up to my knee. I actually wince when I remember it. A torn cruciate and medial collateral ligament and the consequent reconstructive surgery was a comparative walk in the park.

Used to play footy twice a week always had weak ankles. Used to sprain them quite regularly always was ok after about 4 weeks.

Then done my right ankle in really bad in 2014, still gets sore now after excercise or even a long walk. Not played footy since went physio and that didn’t help. To be honest they said ligaments but didn’t give me X-ray or scan. I think it’s either bone damage or I need some type of operation on the ligaments. I’ve done the injury before and I knew it was different last time.

Anyway to answer your question if your unluckily like me it could be fucked for good.
Imo a soft tissue injury can be worse and you can suffer symptoms for longer.
Did my left ankle playing football in 1991 and I still have to take left boot/shoe off if I'm sitting about and it clicks whenever I move it. It was X-rayed with no break but by lad it knacked.

You missed the game with a sprained ankle, FFS
I wish I'd have had it for the last 3 seasons

Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate.
Once healed, cycle. Either indoors or out, just get that ankle strengthened up with cycling.
I used to regularly sprain my ankles playing 5 a side. I reckon once you've done it the first time, it weakens it considerably. But then biking a good few miles a week really helped
