Why has he come?

There’s very few jobs in football, at the moment, with such a big upside.

Get it right and you’ll be managing a club on the up in front of near on 50k fans with top class facilities.

Get it wrong and your gone in 9 months with a fat pay-off and your reputation still intact as were a “basket case”

The bloke has always seemed a bit arrogant to me, his stock is high - why has he taken this job if it's such a poisoned chalice as everyone keeps saying? Why would he take a job where he will fail?
This management lark is like a game of snakes and ladders and it looks like he's just got to where he needs to roll a six to hit the jackpot and he's landed on that last snake that takes you right down again. Or has he? What has he been told?

Keane wasn't arrogant like :D

There's always been doubts about his ability as a club manager after Real Sociedad, Coventry and AEL.

Keeping us up would be up there with walking on water, though I'd draw the line at water into wine with Catts, Gibbo and the Honeymonster around.

That's exactly my thoughts. He wanted some guarantees from the FAW and was off when he didn't get them it seems.

We'll see who's right at the end of the season. I'll bet you £20 now that we won't go down - loser donates to the Bradley Lowery Foundation?
Much as I have never bet against my own team, I accept your bet. At least Bradley’s cause will benefit one way or another from our misery.

I thought we played well in parts today. howlers by both keepers. we tried to get the ball out to the wings and get behind them to cross. I have not seen that with grayson or with moyes.

I think it may have something to do with coaching.

If that is the case, then it is a far easier job. The kudos that Coleman will win will be enormous.

Not seen anything concrete about this. Was he at the S. O. L today?

apparently not, but was told his assistant was. I never seen, but at one point there was a lot of handshaking going on near to where the directors sit

Because what is there to lose? Were in freefall, everyone knows it. If he succeeds hes a genius and if he fails its expected and he blames the club

No idea, but this job is not a shit one.

Someone is going to strike gold managing us, low expectations, apparently in shit street, but then get it right, MAGIC.

Good luck Chris.
You are right! But given all the negativity that the job itself has ie no money and a underperforming squad and a club that still has to make savings just to survive i cannot fathom why a manager with such a high value at the moment would take the job when other less stressfull options are availible ...Put yourself in shorts or bains position...............how do you sell the club to him and lure coleman to the job?My cynical view is that he has been given a bumper contract with very low expectations required of him............ie akin to take the money and run with reputation intact as nobody can succeed at safc ..or that is how the press has labelled it .an "impossible job" akin to finding the yeti in witherwack...............maybee not so impossilble then!.........good luck to him whatever his motives:cool:

Another motive was suggested on five live yesterday, namely that a potential new owner and or investor was driving this appointment

who said that on five live? The media have made the job sound 10 times worse than it really is and i think they are more shocked than we are that he has taken the job ...if the welsh supporting guy from sky that was interviewed on yesterdays pre match warm up on radio newcastle is anything to go by........the fact that a takeover is upon us would be a more positive explination!.....one can hope!and hope you are right as this would explain his willingness to take the job as the other more cynical explination is that he would do anything for £££££.
