I bought one and started a project to make the whole house a smart house. I can now turn lights on and off and my air con on and off security system etc..its pretty damn cool

It can also call people now who also have echo. I can ring my echo in the kitchen to tell the kids to get out of the fridge....
I just enabled the SONOS skill on my Dot and it works fine.
I don't have the new Player 1, and nothing's hard-wired.

the echo is one of them things i want to buy, but dont know why. what do they do, without reading the full thread.
Mine controls everything in my house, netflix, music, lights, heating.. excellent system
have a nvidia shield with voice control for the entertainment side of things. think i can handle turning the lights on by a switch like. do they owt else?
im an old school sparky, love an indestructible switch. cant go wrong.I like going go bed then saying lights off
