Was reading the below article about Neymars proposed transfer to PSG. The paragraph that caught my eye was this:

'Others will not believe his departure until they see him deposit the €222m buy-out clause with the Spanish league to free him from his contract – even if Barca want Marco Veratti they will demand PSG pay in full and then discuss other business afterwards.

Does Neymar have to pay the league £222m to buy himself out then PSG give him £222m after? What about in England, say we bought Defoe from Bournemouth for £5m. Would we give the F.A £5m and they then hand it over to Bournemouth so there's no funny business?

In our experience you say you're going to pay it then just find grounds to try and default the payment

What an outrageous slur against the club and other than the Alvarez issue you have nothing to back your accusation up.
Disgraceful

:lol::lol:

Not get tired by pretending you're outraged all the time

It means you cant pay installments to activate the clause and make his contract meaningless.

If PSG paid 222m over 4 seasons Barca could reject. If they paid in one go Barca cant stop Neymar leaving if he wants to go. Neymar could in theory buy out the contract but he has no motive. PSG would pay the money.

Neymar would have to pay the money to Barca, although PSG would usually transfer the money to the player first.

Different system in Spain, so it wouldn't apply here.

The Spanish system is described here: https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/buy-out-clauses-how-they-work-spanish-football

Atletico have taken advantage of this with that Vitolo. Lent him the €37.5 mil to buy his contract out rather than signing him themselves. This allows him to go sign and play for Las Palmas till January then go sign for Atletico, getting round the transfer ban. Or registration ban to be more accurate.

"Spain international Vitolo has joined from Sevilla after a protracted and circuitous transfer saga, which saw the winger verbally agree to a new deal at Sevilla before having a late change of heart and paying his own €37.5m release fee (courtesy of a loan from the bank of Atlético). Being released from his contract meant he could sign for Atleti as a free agent, but defer his registration as a player until the ban is lifted next January. This freed him to register at his hometown club Las Palmas on a six-month contract in what is effectively a loan deal, but crucially one that sidesteps the FIFA rule stating that a player must register with a parent club before being sent out on loan."

There's different rules as say for example someone like Gareth Bale when he signed for Tottenham, Madrid would have said 'here's €20 million buy your contract out' and then he would have essentially joined them for nothing and they've said loads, you can't do it there is rules against it or all players would do it to get bigger bonuses when signing on, wages and it would save clubs millions, it's not allowed

Your confusing buying out contract with buy out clause there mate.

They arent paying the players contract up. There are paying the set fee Spanish clubs set for a player to void his contract.

Yeah I get you, so are there clauses in the actual contracts so they can buy them out ?
