Taking up jogging

Everyone is different mate - so there is no standard pace. That said, if you have a decent level of fitness, 9 minute miles over a distance of 3-4 miles is pretty easy

The last bit is spot on mate. I am training for my 5th marathon and 90% of the problems you encounter during training are in your head.

To pinch a saying from the cycling world "if your head is right, your legs follow"
I saw John McEnroe being interviewed the other week on about some tennis player (I can't remember who), who had a hip problem. He said it starts from your back and goes all the way up to here (pointing to his head). And that is spot on imo

How often do you recommend going out running for a beginner?

I ran 2.5 miles yesterday and 3.2 miles today. Is it alright to just keep running every morning as long as I feel ok, or do I need to give myself a rest every couple of days?

Wouldn't run everyday unless your feet, knees and legs feel fine from the day before. Remember to not over do it so you still get the same enjoyment/buzz from it aswell.

Personally, I'd recommend you don't run everyday mate as rest days are good for you.

At the moment I'm training on a Tue, Wed, Thur, Sat and Sun for a marathon.

Rest is as important as running, you have to let your body recover and repair depending on what kind of training you are doing, I am terrible for not taking enough rest and causing myself needless injury's, starting to learn now though.

I cleverly avoided running for the third day in a row, and in my wisdom went to the gym and attempted some squats, felt a twinge in my hamstring almost immediately  Lesson learnt, luckily no harm done but I need to rest my legs after running and that includes weights !

I'm starting to take a rest day out a very easy run after I do a work out run, today I did 15x1min at pace 15x1min recovery, tomorrow will be rest out a complete stroll at recovery pace, in the past I used to just listen to my body and it would say run normal pace tomorrow, now I listen to my experience and think slow it is.
