As alluded to in the Glamorgan match thread, the need for a loanee seam bowler is well and truly growing.

Rushworth, Weighell, P Coughlin, McCarthy and Chase seem to be our only fit options.

J Coughlin might be nearing the first team, he probably has fair reason to be aggrieved if he doesn't get his chance before a loan player.

Is there anyone in local cricket who could be worth a look?

Or is it now the time to seek help from the counties?? Just who exactly could we get? I don't see an abundance of quality seamers in the game now as it is in all honesty. Certainly the better ones are all playing for their parent county side.

Last season for example Luke Fletcher was having to travel to get a game but he appears to be more in favour now at Notts.

In normal circumstances I'd think perhaps Yorkshire would play ball, their record of having a battery of seamers would suit them loaning one out and of course they'd surely be open to allowing a player to bowl in 'Northern' conditions to further their cricketing education. However it seems they have the same bowler injury problems as we do.

There was mention on Cricinfo of Harry Podmore of Middlesex coming on loan with a view to signing permanently. Was in the England Performance squad under Killeen during the winter.

Might be taking a step backwards and don't know if he would be available but Kyle Coetzer is still playing locally. Matt Muchall seems to take 7 wickets every week too!

Really?? Hadn't seen that .

Would take him actually. Although he was loaned to Glamorgan, then couldn't get a game. I suppose options are limited, but do we want someone who Glamorgan don't want??

Perhaps beggars can't be choosers.

I'd rather play a kid than get the likes of Luke Fletcher in

What is the point? Not getting promoted or anything

We still want to be competitive. Plus it's possible that the right player will bring the talent we have on somewhat. Add to that more competition for places and you've got a good environment for youngsters to develop.

I'm not suggesting we drop any of Weighell/Coughlin/McCarthy, but anymore injuries and we may have to play either an Under 15 or reach out to Neil Killeen .

Then play a lad from league cricket

Arshad played as a batsman in the last match so he must be nearing fitness, would love to see him make a return to the side

Still got plenty of cricketers who are on the staff who have not even played for the first team yet this season. Then you have the Academy players especially this time next month when the school exams are finished.

Arun Harinath and Matt Pillans (Surrey) have joined Leicestershire on loan.

When Jon Lewis was asks about loanees a few weeks back he stated he'd approached a number of counties yet nobody was willing to release anyone.

We're Surrey one of the counties he asked?

I tend to not take much he says, serious

Couldn't have been as Derbyshire had a lad on loan from there earlier in the month

He might have asked about specific players or specific skills or even that players who weren't available then are available now, who knows.

I'd rather we brought on our home-grows rather than someone else's though.
