I was badly wrong about Moyes

I thought he was an excellent appointment, the best man to replace BSA. Think I first started questioning him after the Boro home game. Who tells the world they're in a relegation battle after 2 games?! My patience was slowly eroded there after. I think it was the Swansea away game where I finally lost all confidence in him.

I thought he'd get us 15/16th and I was happy with the appointment.

The Rotherham pre season game when he came on the pitch, he looked happy to be here and the fans certainly welcomed him.

Burnley away just before new year was when I made my mind up that he was out of his depth and wanted him out.

I'll nail my colours to the mast and say I was really pleased we appointed Moyes. After BSA I thought he'd be ideal, how wrong can you be!

The two managerial appointments I've been most excited about were O'Neil and Moyes - both failed.

I was dubious to say the least about Allardyce but he looks like a genius compared to Moyes and all he did was keep us up - we aren't exactly setting the bar high here, we've accepted just escaping relegation for years and celebrated it as if we've achieved something.

Imagine how much respect a manager would have if he actually created a side capable of competing regularly in the top half of the table ? (Not the championship - although who knows what we'll be hoping for this time next year).

I said at the time i was dissapointed , i wanted Dyche, for me Dyche is a big jovial character who would of been able to fill big sams boots. I think Moyes may have been a good fit for us if he had taken over after Pdc or Poyet but taking over from big sam, a manager the players love was always going to be tough for him

My gut instinct told me that I wanted him gone after the Crystal Palace home game but was prepared to give him more time. Turns out I should have trusted my gut instinct

I watched the Palace game and put it down to one of those daft games, mind we again conceeded 2 soft goals from crosses, a recurring theme.

It was the week after when we were played off the park by WBA and mugged them for a totally undeserved draw that I decided Moyes was totally f***ing clueless and he'd never make it here.

We should have begged Sam to come back and then looked at other managers if he said no.

I was pretty happy when we appointed him and i wasnt expecting much from this season after the England carry on. Personally i wouldve been delighted with 12-14th no dramas with relegation then we could go on from there just build up a bit season by season.
Style of play wise i didnt expect Moyes team to be pretty but i thought hed have us do the basics well; clean sheets, set pieces etc just a solid team.
Hes done the exact opposite-his zonal marking system doesnt work, hes playing 433 when we dont have the players for it and we dont get stuck into teams at all theres nothing to get the crowd up.
The worst thing is the players dont look fit to me. We conceed so many late goals in a half its a disgrace and players have been picking muscle injuries up all season. Everton always seemed to have players injured when Moyes was there.
Hes not the sole problem (the club is ran so badly) but hes made everything hes touched worse and hes already getting excuses in ahead of next season. He lost me when he said in February this is where i expected us to be-what sat 10pts adrift with 19pts. Christ sake man. The apathy around the club is awful and it stems from his woe is me demeanour. This season has been worse than the 15 and 19pts imo for that alone he has to go. Shame tbh i thought he could really do a job here.

I know that he always seems to have some kind of excuse, but I think he has had some bad luck. Things would have been different if he had been able to get players like Ulloa and M'villa, and if he had been able to call upon Cattermole and Kaboul.

I think the vast majority thought he was a solid appointment. Especially when Short siad he was the man he had wanted all along it was safe to assume he would be fully supported with £££.
We all thought he would maybe turn is into a Stoke or a WBA - steady away in mid table with the prospect of cup runs now and again.
I dont know the reasons behind whats happened, and I doubt Moyes does either. I wanted to give him time and stop the constant changing of managers - we are still sorting out the shower of shite Keane signed by all acounts, but I think he has to go.

I've wanted Moyes for years. Was overjoyed when we got him. Even made a thread saying how in his career his average league positions etc far out stripped Big Sam.

He's been a massive disappointment would be an understatement!
This

But relegation has been coming for years I'm not too sure why so many are f***ing shocked its finally came most fans around the country aren't

Me too

When he came I was adamant that he'd keep SAFC up by a good margin and get the defence solid.

He seems to have been in a state of apathy almost from day one. Not the same manager he used to be - sad all around.

I was, but I remember reading something about him at Utd, being arrogant and refusing Sir Alex existing staff....players their thinking he was arrogant. Arrogance normally means ignorance but too proud to admit it - seems I was wrong and he actually doesn't know what he is really doing. Seems players also couldn't wait to get away or were not rushing back from injury.....all the signs were there.

Cheers Ellis

Most people thought he'd be a good appointment at the time. A reputation for spotting a bargain and having hard working teams that are hard to beat. Unfortunately he's shown none of that.

He lost my respect at the very end, when he said not one person is just responsible for the relegation....I just said fuck you to the tv. Not even man enough to take accountability there, must be the kitchen staff at training ground, ball boys, the whole lot of em at fault.

I hold my hands up too, got it wrong. Even after Burnley when we were down in my eyes I still thought keep him for stability. After the Boro game I was livid, utterly indefensible in every area. My expectations couldn't be any lower and he still fell below them somehow. Was then I fully realised that he doesn't actually have a clue.

I thought good in the long term.- but risky in the short term given the situation - anyone but Allardyce would have put us at risk - not his particular fault. However, time has shown that he is on the wane and the massive problems we have encountered have totally overwhelmed him. The phrase "yesterday's man" is the most fitting.
