Bloody hell  That with PC Specialist?

Aye  Used them to build my laptop last year and they were great. I'd definitely recommend them. I know almost 2 grand is a load of money, but I shouldn't need to buy a console or another computer for absolute years with me opting for the 1080 ti.

Aye thought it might be them as I keeping going on there to customise a PC and I always end putting everything at it's best  Ends up looking similar yours, but then I just end closing the page as I can't justify spending that much on a PC, as much I'd like to. Tempted though.

It's £55 a month if you want to make it manageable ;)

I'm having another look now  any tips on what to get/not to get/what's overpriced etc.?

Case: If you're interested in playing blurays, or plan on using disks often, get a case which can house a drive.
Motherboard: Gigabyte make good motherboards, Asus ones are a bit better, but cost more. The motherboard i've opted for has good reviews and good benchmark scores.
Memory: Opt for 2666MHz, 3000MHz will likely not give you much of a performance boost. 16gb will be enough to handle pretty much everything game wise. I've opted for 32gb as I'll be editing video on mine as I do this for a job.
Graphics Card: Always get the best single card you can afford, don't think getting two 1070's in SLI will be better than a single 1080TI. Some programs and games don't offer support for SLI, and you'll likely get more problems. Although two 1070's would set you back roughly the same as a single 1080TI.
Hard Drive: Go for an SSD if you can afford it, they'll give a massive performance boost. I've not opted one for my build because I'm going to install one I already own when it arrives. Get an SSD and install your operating system on it, then get a secondary hard drive with more space. Getting an m.2 SSD will mean mounting something straight onto the mobo and will fly. I've gone with a 128gb m.2 drive which I'll install Windows 10 on, then will have a 250gb SSD, and 2TB Hard Drive.
Monitor: My build will run most games at 70+ fps in 4K, with average fps of around 150+ at 1080p. So if you can afford a 4K tv or monitor, you'll see the benefit of the 1080TI. I've not got a 4K monitor yet, but will have soon.
PSU: My build will use a maximum of 551w, so I went with an ultra quiet 650w PSU incase I upgrade later on.

Cheers mate, very helpful tips. Now just to convince the other half that a 2k PC is definitely worth it.

Good luck. I had to get the nod of approval as well  Took loads of convincing though.

Made a couple of small changes to the build. Dropped down to 16gb of Ram to save £100, which I then used to get a slightly better motherboard, an SSHD as standard instead of the HDD, and a better m.2 drive.

Who have you bought it off? Did they off a delidding service on the 7700k? If not, keep an eye on your temps.

Or get a tool off eBay and do it yourself

Got it through PC Specialist. Will get in touch and see if they are able to delid it. If not, is there much risk of me f***ing it up by doing it myself?

Falcon computers will do it for £15 iirc. I did mine that I bought a couple of week ago. Shit meself, but still works!

Did you spec it overclocked?

Nah, I'm just buying it stock. I'll overclock it myself if I'm finding it needs it. I've sent a message to PC Specialist like, see if they can do it for me. I'm based in London, I'm guessing Falcon are in Sunderland?

Does delidding it void the warranty?

Yes.

What dies delidding mean?

The Kabylake chips are terrible for temps, they used an inferior heat sync and they burn out quickly under load. Basically, you remove the head from the chip and apply either liquid silver or a better thermal paste. Fixes the issue
