Just looked at second XI team and thought "Smith and Richardson must be playing, rest musn't be involved"

Onions rested. Must have been told by England what to do?

I hope we win the toss given the likely conditions otherwise it could be a hard toil in the field.

Plunkett and Onions out, as well as GBH and I can't see us taking 20 wickets. Let's hope it's a spinning wicket and Blackwell and Borthwick take most of the wickets. But when did we last prepare a turning wicket, never mind in April?

The toss will be all important IMHO. If we win we could bat for an awful long time.

The wicket we will be using is one of the extreme ones either right at the top by the main stand or right at the bottom by the old scoreboard. I asked the groundsman about this last year and it was something to do with the water table underneath IIRC. Summit like that. In otherwords there will be an extremely short boundary on one side.

is this the official match thread? or the other durham v sussex thread?
