South Africa for me.

Big hitters such as Smith, Boucher and Morkel are going to turn this into a 20/20 tournement.

Based on the ODI Australia calamity.

Hopefully Colly will have a great world cup

based on we have two decent odi spin bolwers, will have a couple of medium pacers who will bowl cutters and the two quick lads can swing the ball. The batsman will prefer the conditions and just think if we have the players fit we can go well in this.

Really think this is the most open world cup there has been

I'm surprised Carty hasn't started a predictions competition yet so if he will allow me to step into his shoes I propose the following categories:

Winner: India
Runner Up: Australia
Losing Semi-finalists: Sri Lanka & South Africa
Tournament Leading Runscorer: Sehwag
Tournament Leading Wicket-taker: Tait
England Leading Runscorer: Trott
England Leading Wicket-taker: Swann

I'm skint so can't afford a trophy so unless someone wants to pay for one I suggest we just play for bragging rights.

First game starts on Saturday so get your entries in before then.

Winner: South Africa
Runner Up: Sri Lanka
Losing Semi-finalists: Pakistan & West Indies
Tournament Leading Runscorer: Jayawardena
Tournament Leading Wicket-taker: Morne Morkel
England Leading Runscorer: Pietersen
England Leading Wicket-taker: Anderson

Reason's. I can see India really struggling in the ODI form, especially with there lack of a real quicky. Its almost going to be a 20/20 tournement and Spin is going to get tonked. South Africa in Theory have the big hitters with Kallis, Smith and Amla capable of some huge shots, Parnell and Morkel can also hit hard down the order.

West Indies will come good this tournement with the pressure of Gayle as Bravo is captain, he will play some fine cricket.

England will fail in the ODI form, however i can see Pietersen and Trott making some good scores. However Anderson and Broad will just be to burned out or unfit.

Morkel will clean up batting attacks, he is the best bowler in the world at the moment test level and will take it into ODI form.

Jayawardena will prove to be the highlight of the world cup just like he was in 2007

Winner: India
Runner Up: Australia
Losing Semi-finalists: England, South Africa
Tournament Leading Runscorer: Raina
Tournament Leading Wicket-taker: Lee
England Leading Runscorer: Pietersen
England Leading Wicket-taker: Broad

notable mentions will go to shakib, vettori, matthews, gayle and duminy

Winner: Sri Lanka
Runner Up: Australia
Losing Semi-finalists: India & South Africa
Tournament Leading Runscorer: Dilshan
Tournament Leading Wicket-taker: Steyn
England Leading Runscorer: Strauss
England Leading Wicket-taker: Swann

I predict England will get nowhere in this tournament. The batting doesn't have enough power in it and the bowling lacks depth. Far too many bits and pieces players and not enough geniune matchwinners.

Surley Tournament Leading Runscorer and wicket-taker should have the highest points value as there is so many contenders where as the winner is between 7 teams.
