Kondogbia

I remember a podcast with a Spanish expert when we signed that wasn't sure how he'd do in the premier league as he'd probably lost a yard of pace etc. Turned out pretty well.
They're fine questions, though. He probably has lost a yard of pace from his time in Madrid and it's always a question how somebody will move to a new league

I don't mind if Marseille fans are happy he's gone. He's on big money and football fans are fickle. As long as he's physically up to it and a good lad, then it's probably a relatively safe signing (assuming we can afford the wages, which I have no idea about so won't be too worried there)

188 games at the top end of La Liga.

113 games at the top end of Ligue 1.

34 games in the Champions League and 15 games in the Europa League.

He's a free transfer who won't expect to be playing every week and will offer experienced cover.

As he's with Sport Cover, an agency who represents a few of our players as well as our manager, I suspect we'll have the detail on fitness, attitude etc.

Marseille fans are notorious for hating everyone pretty much all of the time.

Even despite his lack of games this season, he's in the 93rd percentile for possession won and 82nd percentile for defensive actions, in Ligue 1 this season based on the minutes he has played.

There's no real downside to this IMO.
Different clubs and all that but Roma fans hated Le Fee and loved that we took him off their hands

I know we like to be positive about all new signings but it does concern me a touch how desperate marseille fans are for him to leave. And how many people say how much hes regressed over the last couple of years.

A couple of things are in our favour here mind that wouldn't necessarily be for another club:

The first is that KLD is extremely well connected at Marseille for obvious reasons and will have been able to get an insight that the fans don't have.

The second is he's with Sport Cover, our favorite agency who represent a few of our players and our manager, so again an opportunity there for some inside knowledge that no one else will have.

Reinildo’s run from the Everton box to our box to stop them scoring in stoppage time (home game) was the most amazing thing I have seen this season.

He certainly put any doubt to bed.

The recruitment of older players has been pretty decent tbf, I don't see any reason to think this lad wouldn't be a good acquisition for what we need right now.

The squad needs to be bigger, and it also needs some more experienced pros that have been at the top level, especially one to rotate with Xhaka.

I seen plenty who weren't, and the same questions being asked about this fella now mate.

This is the post from athletico Madrid when hes sold. Overwhelmingly positive.
Compared to what marseille fans say about this lad its night and day.

Im not sure thats necessarily a positive.

Didn't you say you wouldn't have Cole Palmer the other day?

Not down to talent though, I said in that post he’s an unbelievable footballer and would be our most talented player.

What I said was I’m not sure he’d fit in with our squad. Ours is built on work ethic and dying for the shirt. He’d also be on like 3x our next highest earner which can cause issues.

His successful passing percentages have ranged from 87 to 92 over the last few years.

Yeah it's not a big surprise given the role he plays, was somewhat tongue in cheek although I suspect you'll see my point if he signs for us! Xhaka's a lot better with the ball than him but played a few of those nonsense balls that got us into massive bother (Everton at home late on etc), Kondogbia's a bit worse for it than him.

He's a midfielder probably closer to Samed than anything else we have right now. Incredibly physical, wants to sit, wants to break play and wants to keep it simple when he has the ball but he can be very loose when his brain goes a bit walkies. Not technically amazing but not really end of the world. Watch Atletico most weeks cos I'm a big old nerd so saw him a lot there and he was sorta rushed in to the club when they lost Partey, was never really as good or the same type of player as him. Zero idea how he's got on at Marseille.

Can't find a video of it but Atletico played United not long after he signed - best I can remember seeing him play - and he hit Bruno Fernandes with a tackle that would make the SOL erupt on par with a Trai Hume tackle. Suspect he'll probably be well liked if he signs if the injuries haven't made him too slow.

This age thing is really overplayed now isn't. Just looking at Reinildo physically, he resembles in Olympic athlete. Linford Christie ran a sub 10 seconds 100M aged 33. He ran a sub 21 seconds 200M aged 36. These players now are total machines compared to the lads many of us grew up watching.

I could pick out all sorts to make my side of the argument look better mate.

It happens in pretty much every transfer, fans will pick out the negatives of a player in order to justify the sale. It's happened on here many times. Just look at how Jobe divided the fans.

The recruitment team haven't given you much reason to doubt them, so why start now?

I do find it slightly concerning in terms of this signing and what others think of him. Theres nothing positive.

But I did also say a couple of posts earlier the recruitment team have earnt out trust.
