Kondogbia

Perfectly plausible we are in for him and he won’t be on cheap wages. Regardless of what Marseille fans think of him he is high profile and a year younger then Xhaka was last year when we offered him a good deal.

We have signed a lot of younger players to develop but also haven’t been against bringing in older experience as well so I think it’s likely the link is correct

He's also with Sport Cover, an agency we've done loads of business with and who represents RLB, Mukiele, Brobbey, Masuaka and Abdullah Ba, so we're likely to have the inside scoop there.

Even on 110K Euros a week it equates to about £95K GBP, If we give him a years deal to help out with the extra games, whilst adding depth to the squad and experience it's under 5 million quid for the season.

There's certainly bigger flops out there if he didn't do well.
No chance we’re paying him that. He’d be one of the top earners outside big 6 teams.

Seems like a bit of a common sense signing TBF.

A wealth of experience, played at some top clubs, and will be coming in to rotate with the extra games without a fee to be paid.

This lad, and possibly the Algerian we were linked with could be a sensible approach, leaving a sizable chunk for an oven ready RW, No.10, and LB.

Do we need to spend a canny chunk on a No.10?

Hes literally this seasons Traore

Do we even need a no.10 at all should have been my question
I don't think we do, got Enzo and Diarra could play there. In fact if nobody leaves and this chap comes in we'd be okay for midfielders. Another striker, winger and lb, cb if Gerty isn't signing. Reckon we'd be alright.

Don’t know much about him and Cant recall ever seeing him play
Clearly has a good football CV but with his recent injury woes and his age I’d be apprehensive
Xhaka is ( has been ) very resilient and rarely misses many games
I’d prefer to see a full prior season of appearances for a player of that vintage before signing
In his favour in the 2 years he played under de Zerbi at Marseilles, he played 34 and 35 times.
De Zerbi has a good reputation and record as a manager ( despite the prevailing anti spurs sentiment on here ) and plays a high energy game, so this lad may be the dogs whatnots
As I have said elsewhere our recruitment team are akin to old KGB in terms of secrecy.
At best we learn 2 days before who we are signing and more usually it is a complete surprise
As with last summer I’m pretty calm and know the owner and ghilfy will know what we need if we want to continue to progress. If they think this lad on a two year deal for no fee is worth a shout that’s good enough for me.

I'd judge him based on how he does here but not for me this. Max Power's long raking diagonal passes that never hit a Sunderland player are more accurate than Kondogbia on the ball.

His successful passing percentages have ranged from 87 to 92 over the last few years.
