Sunderland pubs that allow kids...

Wanting to take the boy into Sunderland centre so he can experience the atmosphere beforehand. We usually just drive in and head straight to ground but I fancy a couple of beers and think the young un will enjoy the atmosphere build up

Witherspoons probably best bet but think most if not allow bairns in

This isn’t what you asked, but I’ve sacked the pub off to take the bairns to greet the bus coming in. Swapped pints for a couple of cans.

Never something I’ve considered prior to Coventry, but it was class & the bairn loved it.

My advice would be if you want them to experience atmosphere get them down there & do a pre-match pub next season.

Nah unfortunately not. I only ever went to the borough when we and me dad used to go and they didn't allow kids in.
 
I remember kids getting turfed from town pubs in the early 00s but times have changed since then. I reckon you’d be absolutely fine in most places, I see plenty kids in town bars on match days. I would maybe avoid Park Lane area though, not the nicest of bars round that way other than Port of Call and so would be the only places I can think of that might not want kids in. Outside the Engine Room/Fire Station would be a good bet imo, was class outside there before the Coventry playoff and there’s a pizza van outside if you want bait. You’re right on the path everyone walks past to get to the ground as well so the atmosphere is top notch.

Good call. Engine Room is really convenient for the footbridge
 
Good to be hot like so beer garden will probably be the best. Anywhere in the town will allow kids during the day on a match day surely?
 
Think there's only the rabbit I know of that don't allow kids. Everywhere else is fine. The Beehive as well actually , but I wouldn't take a kid in there anyway.
