Southampton spying compendium thread

I really can't fathom the thought process of these people saying its harsh on Southampton.

The rules are there for everyone to see, they've broken the rules both during the regular season (-4 points for next year) and in the playoff campaign (which they've been chucked out of).

When the prize for promotion is so great you simply cannot allow a team who has admitted to cheating the opportunity to contest the final that is worth so much money to the winner. They made a choice to break the rules and the EFL has rightly punished them. A fine and suspended points deduction would only have justified their cheating had they have played the final and gone on to win.

I've no sympathy at all with those that took the decision to cheat.

Now that whinning fanny at bora is saying havent had time to prepare, basically get his excuses ready in case they get beat.
Maybe they should have just promoted bora.
To be fair, the team I'm not bothered about, but the fans are reporting all sorts of trouble trying to get through to purchase tickets. Imagine limited time to buy and the system not being up to it. Stuff of nightmares if your keen to go.

And even if the boro players were not affected and Southampton had lost the game, despite the advantage. The fact is that they still broke the rules by cheating and gaining an unfair/unlawful advantage, regardless if they won or lost. An advantage that would still have warrant the investigation and punishment by the EFL, that produced this guilty verdict of cheating.
I agree. This "we didn't get any benefit from it" excuse is irrelevant.

It's like getting arrested for breaking and entering and then telling the judge that you shouldn't be sent to prison because you didn't find anything worth stealing.

Points deduction (possibly more points), losing all their best players, manager potentially banned along with others, a summer of turmoil and probably loads of legal wranglings and assorted hearings. Where have you been for the last week or so? 🤣
And every away game will be horrific for them and strong teams dropping down

I was thinking the same when I heard him getting his excuses in early. Boro continued training it's not like he had to search the bars in Ibiza to get his squad back together

I happen to think it’s quite lenient on Southampton! No fine, a points deduction that shouldn’t really impede them next season if they are any good. Could have been much much worse. Teams get worse for being poor!

The consequence is big for them obviously - but that’s on them not the EFL. The equivalent of someone losing their £1m a year job for drink driving - that has nothing to do with the court when sentencing.

The fact that Southampton cheated made it harder for Boro to beat them!

I don’t get this “well Boro had their chance and they lost”. They lost because Southampton had an unfair advantage against them - as a minimum knew what their tactics were going to be, how their set pieces would likely look like and then had time to prepare a defence to those tactics and set pieces.
The Boro played them off the park in the first half of the first leg
Had they taken their chances theydve went through

Any fellow mackems going? I got a ticket so going down with my best mate and the godson going to enjoy the day have a few drinks as a neutral

When we see the Boro mutant fans and not the fans of the cheating Southampton FC, now filling the Wembley stands, we can look at them and think of the saying, 'Two heads are better than one', when the camera pans in on them. ;)
